Question
Error 1722. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package
Original title:Samsung Series 9 Widi Won't Complete The Install
I’m having trouble installing the Intel Wireless Display. I have a Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C-US 03A
running Windows 8.
Using Samsung's SW Update and /or the Intel site, I’ve installed
1) Intel PROSet/Wireless Software and Drivers version 15.5.5.57 (have 15.5.6_s64 installed), and
2) Intel HD Graphics Driver version 15.28 or higher (have Intel HD Graphics 4000 installed and Intel HD
Graphics Driver version 15.28.8.64.28 installed),
and then get stalled out trying to install the Intel Wireless Display version 3.5 or higher. It does not
matter whether I install from SW Update or the Intel site.
I receive a black box with the text box header text: C/Program Files/Intel Corporation/Intel
WiDi/AudioDriver/iwdaud_helper.exe
and within the black box, the following text:
{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\*INTAUDWAVEEX\1&79F5D87&17&02= `
{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\*INTAUDWAVEEX\1&79F5D87&17&06= `
ROOT\SYSTEM\0001 =
and the installation goes no further. I’ve waited for the black box to finish executing, but it never does.

When I close the black window, the installation fails with the following message: Updated Failed(-10)
What can I do to fix this and get my WiDi working again? It worked fine with Windows 7 but now that
I’m running Windows 8 I’m having this problem.

Hi Gerry1314,
You can try the following steps to see if you can install the drivers.
Start the Windows Installer service.
a. Press the "Windows key + R", type "Services.msc" and press "Enter"
b. Double-click Windows Installer.
c. Set the Startup type of Windows Installer to Manual.
d. Click Start to start the service. Note down the error message if any.
e. Click OK.
The 1722 error message is a general installer error message. You may unregister Windows Installer, and
then reregister Windows Installer
To do this, follow these steps:
a. Press the "Windows key + R"
b. In the "Open" box, type"msiexec /unreg", and then press ENTER.
c. Press the "Windows key + R" again
d. In the "Open" box, type"msiexec /regserver", and then press ENTER.

I appreciate the suggestion, but unfortunately that didn't make it any better. However, I took some
additional steps, and perhaps made a little progress. I reinstalled practically everything that was a driver.
Now, I am able to get the application to indicate that the installation was complete (no more black box
issue). However, when I click on the icon and accept the user agreement, I get a message that the
“application has an issue” and must be closed. There is no indication what “the issue” may be. I’ve tried
running it as an administrator. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it several times. Unfortunately, I still continue
to get that error message.
