Makati will maintain its dominant place as the countrys economic hub
and financial center of the Philippines in the 21st century, and
continue to be an economically and environmentally sustainable city.
Makati will enhance its accessibility within, to and from the City. It will
expand pedestrianization and promote the use of vehicles fitted withengines that run on alternative fuels; modernize operations of public
utility vehicles; and, combat air pollution caused by increasing
motorization through the introduction of more efficient and less polluting
mode of public transport under a fully rationalized and integratedsystems-driven public transport operating system.

Makati eJeepney Project
1. Organic waste is deposited in a hopper and conveyed to a motor screen to
filter plastics and hard bulky organic materials such as wood chunks.
2. Pre-screened waste is macerated and hammered for optimum size reduction to
efficiently produce liquefied waste feed.
3. Waste is fed directly to the CIGAR for anaerobic digestion.
4. Biogas produced will power the generator that generates electricity used to
charge Ejeepney batteries.

COMPARATIVE COST ANALYSIS eJeepney 8-hour battery charging power consumption with average running
distance of 70 kilometers.
- 20 kilowatt-hours @ P8.08 . . . P161.60 or P2.30/km.
Diesel PUJ estimated fuel mileage - 7 kms./liter or 10.0 liters to cover 70 kms. @
P45.0/liter will cost about P450- worth of diesel or about P6.42/km fuel cost. eJeepneys additional cost for batteries is estimated at P115-/day (12 units of
batteries @ P6,000- or P72K, divided by 24 mos. warranty of batteries at 26
days/month). eJeepney total cost per km. is P4.37- (P161.60 + P115.00 =
P306.00 divided by 70 kms.) Two units of PUJ 3SM battery @ P5,300- or P17- daily as cost for 2-year service life. PUJ engine oil at P28-/day (6 liters of engine oil at P720- divided by 26 operating
days) or an additional P0.37/day
Expenses:eJeepney . . . P306.00
PUJ (diesel-fed) . . . P467.37
Total Savings of eJeepney . . . P161.37 for a 70-kms/day trip.

Makati also looks forward to theintroduction of electric buses
similar to those developed in South
Korea that can run at about 52
miles on a single charge and at a
maximum speed of around 62miles per hour.

The Seoul eBuses are made from a carbon composite material, instead
of iron plates, which considerably reduces the vehicles weight but
reinforces durability. Seouls government has announced that half of itsmassive fleet of buses will be electric by 2020. Seouls grand plan is to
have a total of 120,000 electric vehicles in use within the city by the end
of the decade, which will account for 50 percent of all public transport
vehicles, 10 percent of sedans, and one percent of trucks and vans.
