Camera – 600DThis is the camera I used to take photos of my models, this camera was light weight and easy to use, it

also had various features such as “portrait” which allowed me take the perfect images for my magazines.

Some of the key features of this camera are that it has;

18-megapixel CMOS sensor

On-screen Feature Guide

Up to 3.7fps continuous shooting

1,040k-dot vari-angle 7.7cm (3.0”) screen

Basic+ and Creative Filters

Built-in wireless flash control (this allowed me to take photos and the studio lights to automatically

flash giving my photos the best lighting)

In addition this camera was a digital camera which meant I could take as many photos as I wanted and

then view them instantly on the screen, the camera also allowed me to manipulate the images on screen

by adjusting the light exposure and colour.

This camera was perfect for my photo shoot and is what I would defiantly use again

Camera featuresTo the right you can see the features that this camera

offers, the two that I found important were the large

bright screen for viewing and the easy apply basic

shot zone. These two together allowed me to get clear

perfect shots of my models and also gave me the

chance to view them straight after I had taken them

so that I was able to tell if I was happy with my shots

or needed to take more.

Studio Lights During my photo shoot I also used studio lights, these were connected to the camera so that

every time I took an image they would flash giving my photos a strong lighting making them

look professional. These studio lights were also important as I could adjust the level of the light

on the stand so that I could have a darker back ground to my image or if I wanted to, have no

light at all.

Gel Light Covers

These were placed over the studio lights to change the

colour of the flash, for example when I placed a red

gel on one studio light and a purple on the over it gave

my image a dark coloured tone. I wanted to use the

gel light covers as it made my images look different

and gave me a variety of photos to choose from when

placing them into my magazine.

Above is one of my images that was taken using the gel covers, you can

see the neutral tone they give the photo in comparison to not using them.

(ignore the different coloured backgrounds)

During my photo shoot I used two backdrops, one was white and the

other black, the choice of the two backgrounds allowed me to add

variety to my images so when placed into my magazine the images

didn’t look the same. Moreover the use of the backdrops also changes

the tone of the photos, the black makes the

model look more prestige where as the white

creates more of an innocent photo. By having

two different back drops is also a typical

convention of magazine photo shoots so I

wanted mine to be similar.

Camera Lens – Tamron AF 10to50 mm

This is the camera lens I used during my photo shoot, this had a

excellent zoom which allowed me to take close ups of my models

so that I was able to capture all their features. The camera also

gives natural depth to my models so that my images looked

professional whilst natural at the same time.

SoftwareInDesign, this is the programme I used to create my magazine, this allowed me to set out my layout, place in my images, add text and adjust photos by cropping them and changing their size. This was important in the design of my magazine and is what I class as equipment as without this I wouldn’t of been able to make such a professional looking music magazine.
