Mrs. RenaldiThe Water Cycle:
E.Q. Describe how water cycles through the
environment.
Water Cycle - Animated Diagram
Evaporation• Process where water droplets change to
water vapor. * Temperature/Wind/Surface
area/Humidity *
• Liquid to gas.
• Travels ↑ in the atmosphere Evap link
Transpiration• Evaporation of water from plants. It occurs
chiefly at the leaves while their Stomata
are open for the passage of CO2 and O2
during photosynthesis.
• Travels ↑ in the atmosphere
Condensation
• change of water from its gas into fluid
• Vapor to Liquid.
• Can occur on the surface of the earth or in the atmosphere
Precipitation
• rain, sleet, hail, snow and other forms of
water falling from the sky
Infiltration
• Occurs when water soaks into the soil.
• Eventually will become too saturated to
soak or take more water and will
eventually form a puddle.
Run-Off
• Flow of water on TOP of land• Some precipitation seeps into the ground to replenish the
earth’s ground water. Most flows downhill as runoff. It keeps
rivers and lakes full of water, but it also changes the landscape
by the action of erosion.
• Water Cycle I
• Water cycle II

Water Cycle - Animated Diagram
Definitions on one side of the foldable and write a sentence using your own words.
Back side of foldable draw a “scene” showing how water cycles
naturally.
• Draw water cycling through the environment (NATURALLY)
• Label where each process is occurring!!
Evaporation
Transpiration
Condensation
Precipitation
Infiltration
Run off
• Spell correctly
• Use ARROWS ↑ → ↓ ↔ to show the direction of water.
Water Cycle Diagram
Back side of foldable draw a “scene” showing how water cycles
naturally!
• Epidermis layer – outer skin
like layer
• Stoma- single pore, opening
• Guard cell – sausage
shaped cells that border the
stoma, contains chloroplasts
• Gas exchange – increased
water pressure causes the
guard cells to bulge, opening
the stoma
