Entrepreneurs Talk

Entrepreneurs Talk is an event that aims to call for successful/unsuccessful entrepreneur who

shares a story about their entrepreneurial journey and business ventures. The

pedagogical presumption that underlies this event is that aspiring entrepreneurs can gain

knowledge from listening to other entrepreneurs’ stories about their entrepreneurial

journey. The stories considered to be significant when it comes to learning something new.

Such stories motivate the students and show that entrepreneurship practice is possible.

Based on the interests of the participating students, they likely to gain knowledge of

entrepreneurial behavior, decision-making requirements, dealing with the problems and

developing problem solver tendency, calculated risk. The listening can also add to an ability

to be mindful. The said exercise likely helps in overcoming cognitive biases about

entrepreneurship practice and listening to what not said. The participant students get an

opportunity to reflect by asking open-ended questions at the end. The event also provides an

opportunity to spread the SIOM network.

GL Summary:

Mr. Dilip Thosar, CEO – Symbiosis Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation had been contacted by the

Academic’s Department to deliver a lecture to the 17-19 batch about entrepreneurship at the SIOM campus.

The session started off at 9:15 pm as per the timing and went on till 10:30 pm. After a brief introduction and

felicitation ceremony, Mr. Dilip Thosar was welcomed onto the dais to share his views about

entrepreneurships and start-ups.

Mr. Dilip Thosar then went on to give a brief description about his work experience prior to joining SCEI.

He then talked about entrepreneurship in general and how a company can be formed on an idea. He also

gave a brief about what goes on during the initial stages of launching a start-up and what goes into it.

He also gave a brief insight about business planning and competitive mapping.

He also encouraged the students to think outside the box and develop ideas rather than following the norm

and getting placements. He also promised that he would be willing to guide and mentor future entrepreneurs

and asked the students to get in touch with him regarding any queries.

Mr. Dilip Thosar was very pleased & impressed to interact with the students even though it was at a late

hour. The students found his session informative and interactive as well.

Mr. Dilip Thosar is currently serving as CEO – Symbiosis Center of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Pune. Mr. Dilip Thosar is a mentor, guide and moreover an entrepreneur and was the creative mind behind a start-up named Taxiforsure which he subsequently sold

off.

Mr. Dilip Thosar has completed his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Kharagpur and has a PGDM in Marketing and

Finance from IIM Ahmedabad. Mr. Dilip Thosar has over 28 years of industry experience in different fields like Sales & Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Leadership Coaching to name a few. His strengths include Business Unit Leadership,

cross-functional business process optimization, lateral thinking and analytics. Mr. Dilip Thosar is well versed in IT software services and

management education.

Mr. Dilip Thosar has previously worked for Wipro Infotech, Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), Hexaware Technologies before

he started off with his own venture.
