Taj belonged to Urdu College before coming to Dow. She was one ofthe tall figures among the girls of ‘79 and by virtue of the naturaladvantage was very fast paced. She was forthcoming and sociable. Hercommunication skills were amazing as in little time she was well reckoned inthe class.

Perhaps this distinctiveness was a common factor in all the scholars from UrduCollege. Urdu College also served as a hub for lovers of literature andextracurricular activities

Taj was fond of sports and participated with enthusiasm and verve in suchactivities at Dow. Tasneem Shaikh was a fast friend and among the groupmates Tehzeeb Haidar was well known. Many would recall the bus points ofDow deputed for pick and drop service.

Taj availed this service to commute to her residence in the far off area ofUniversity Road. It used to be a matter of daily fright and nervousness forher when she became a loner by the time the bus would reach near her SuiGas Transmission housing scheme.

Taj was a devoted student generally and remained a passionatedevotee of Urdu prose and poem. Once a graduate, Taj got married to ZafarJavaid from the batch of Dow ‘80. Their son Furqan is making the parentsproud by pursuing professional studies.

Her plans for a higher training in Pediatrics could not materialize as thefamily left for Saudi Arabia where she worked with Saudi Ministry ofHealth. Taj Tabassum still carries the same physical and social charm. She is aregular visitor to Karachi and seeing old friends with unfettered old zealand ardor is her obsession. Very recently Taj maiden book “Arab Ke Arab Pati”was published and launched officially. It has enjoyed good popularity amongUrdu critics and lovers alike.
