Assignment 1 (Part 1)

In Week 3 of Semester 2, I had been assigned my first

individual assignment (Part 1) by English 2 Lecturer, Mr.

Nathaniel Woon. This first assignment is to prepare a

compare or contrast essay on selected television genres

based on either situation comedies or soap operas. This

compare or contrast essay requires me to look through the

materials published on the chosen television series to

provide me a more understandable situation of the

television series. After completing this task, I realized that

I’m able to demonstrate the ability to understand a

television series through the materials published. Besides

that, I also able to demonstrate the ability to decide the two

chosen television series in the way to compare, analyze

and evaluate the contents critically. Lastly, it helps me to be

able to research and organized a five paragraph

argumentative essay with correct format and referencing

techniques.




In Week 6 of Semester 2, the assignment (Part 2) was

assigned by English 2 Lecturer, Mr. Nathaniel Woon. This

time we are required to work in pairs to identify and

examine on artworks. Last assignment is to write a normal

compare “or” contrast essay, after all it wasn’t that hard. As

for this assignment, it became tougher because we needed

to prepare a long compare “and” contrast essay on two

previously unseen artworks. Each group was assigned to

different art exhibitions to study the artworks in the

exhibitions. After seeing all the artworks, we are required to

choose two artworks from the exhibitions in order for us to

descript, analyze and interpret both artworks. Upon

completing the task, I realized that I’m able to indicate the

capability to descript, analyze and interpret artworks more

precisely. Furthermore, I also able to indicate the capability

in comparing and contrasting longer argumentative essay

and present it clearly with no errors.


Assignment 2

In Week 11 of Semester 2, the last assignment has finally

announced. This last assignment must be done in group of

three; or not more than four. This assignment is to prepare

a research paper based on the given research areas we

had been assigned. Every group is required to choose two

same businesses to compare the differences in either the

businesses is an old or a new business in market. In

addition, we must interview the employees in the business

in order for us to gain more knowledge about the targeted

business. Once the task had completed, I realized that I’m

able to demonstrate the skill to prepare an interview

questions in order to obtain more information that couldn’t

be found in any online articles, journals and publishers.

Moreover, I will be able to become an interviewer to identify

audience’s role, facial expression, relationship and attitude

change during the interview.
