Making predictions

A prediction is like a guess about what will happen next.

We can make predictions even when we are only given a small amount of information.

However, they aren’t always accurate!

Making predictions

Have you heard this saying before?

Literally it means that you can’t tell what a book will be like just by looking at the picture on the cover.

However, we normally use this saying when we are telling someone that they shouldn’t base their opinion about a person on the way they look.

Never judge a book by its cover

What sort of information do you find on the cover of a book?

Look at the book your teacher has given you and try to find:

1. title – the name of the book

2. author – the person who wrote the book

3. genre – the type of book (eg thriller, comedy).
