COVER PHOTOA cover photo is an image on a Facebook profile. Unlike a profile picture, cover photos are large banner graphics that introduce visitors to an individual or brand. Facebook cover photos appear exclusively on your individual Facebook timeline. This means your followers will need to visit your profile to see them. Your followers will also see on their timeline when you change your cover photo image.

Cover photos allow users to convey more information than a profile picture can. Use the #ULIFall cover photo on your page to generate excitement with your network.

Virtual backgrounds limit distractions in the background and help you and others focus on meeting content. A selection of branded virtual backgrounds have been created for your convenience.

TIPS:• When using a virtual background,

remaining somewhat still will help reduce any odd halo effects.

• Avoid setting up where people might walk behind you. Even shadow movement near you can trigger odd virtual noise in your Zoom background.

• Don’t wear the same color as your background. This could cause you to blend in with your surroundings.

• Ensure that your computer or camera is stationary instead of on your lap.

SPEAKER TIPS

1. Consider your background. If capabilities allow, we suggest using one of our ULI Fall Meeting virtual backgrounds for your session. Check the Virtual Backgrounds Tips for more detailed information.• Find a solid-colored wall that is clear

of distractions. Minimal props and background items allow the viewer to focus on what you’re presenting.

• Contact the ULI Brand team for a branded physical background for easy set-up wherever you’re recording.

2. Look your best. Do a personal dress rehearsal to check that your clothing looks professional on screen.

3. Lights, camera, action. Lighting should come from the side or in front of you to best light your face. • If you don’t have a movable light, sit

facing a bright window.• Place your camera at eye level. When

speaking, look directly at your camera.

4. Test your audio and video. Ensure that your camera is locked and won’t tilt or fall during the session. Do a test session with a colleague to ensure that you can be seen and heard.

SESSION POWERPOINT TEMPLATETIPS FOR A KNOCKOUT PRESENTATION:

• Keep your slides simple. Too much information or too many images can be overwhelming or distracting. Try to limit each slide to one main point.

• Relax. When preparing for an in-person presentation, you may feel a little nervous. Presenting to a virtual audience may make you feel more comfortable. Use gestures and mannerisms that you would typically use in person.

• Practice makes perfect. Make sure you practice using the online meeting tools ahead of time so you can make your presentation as seamless as possible.
