The Casillo Group is the worldwide leader in the transformation
and marketing of durum wheat, and a major international player in
agricultural commodities trading.
The Casillo Group, with a grinding and handling capacity of over 2
million tonnes/year of grain, is one of the world’s foremost market
makers in the durum wheat sector.
Durum wheat is the raw material that, transformed into semolina,
serves as the main ingredient in the production of dry pasta, fresh
pasta, bread and couscous.

The corporate mission, based on values and prin-
ciples bequeathed to the Casillo brothers by their
father Vincenzo, is oriented to product quality and
safety and to full customer satisfaction.
The painstaking selection of the raw materials,
the rigorous acceptance, production and finished
product checks, the automation of the production
processes, the flexibility and dynamism of human
resources, are the goals set for a young, highly mo-
tivated team, able to develop and achieve the most
effective solutions.
Mission, values and strategies
CASILLO GROUP ESTABLISHES ITS ACTIONS ON THE VALUES OF FAIRNESS, COHERENCE, TRADITION, INNOVATION, FOCUSING ON THE CENTRALITY OF MAN AND ON THE RESPECT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT,
WITH THE AIM OF PROVIDING TECHNOLOGICALLY ADVANCED SOLUTIONS TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF OUR CUSTOMERS.

Strategy and operational plans
The Casillo Group’s strategy is based on sustainabil-
ity in the economic, social and environmental sense
and it shares this commitment with partner compa-
nies and customers.
Sustainability is a guiding criterion for the Casillo
Group: the objectives connected with it are close-
ly tied to the strategic objectives and they descend
from the decisions of the top management as an ex-
pression of the will to develop a systemic vision be-
tween the different corporate areas and functions.
The Top Management defines the objectives and pe-
riodic goals in the operational plans, the department
heads of the Casillo Group participate in the identi-
fication of risks and opportunities, and in the deter-
mination of the operational plans, and ensure their
development and periodic monitoring to achieve the
defined goals and targets, both of an economic and
environmental and social nature.
On the strength of its consolidated know-how and
market leadership, the Casillo Group has launched
its first actual internationalization operations. The
true challenge, however, is to meet the challenges of
new markets and business growth with adequate or-
ganisational responses and human resources, with-
out losing its own distinctive characteristics and root
values. Dimensional and international growth must
be supported by consistent, balanced and sustaina-
ble organisational and managerial growth.

The main sectors where the Group is active are briefly described below.
Business areas and markets served
The milling segment, comprising the companies Molino Casillo S.p.A., Se-
molificio A. Moramarco S.p.A., Molino di Lucca S.r.l., Molino di Sicilia S.r.l.,
Molino dell’Adriatico S.r.l., De Franceschi S.p.A. - Monfalcone and Sinergie
Molitorie S.c.a.r.l., operates 12 milling plants situated in various Italian
regions (Puglia, Sicily, Campania, Abruzzo, Tuscany, Lombardy and Friuli
Venezia Giulia) with annual production capacity of 2 million tonnes. The
products are the result of the synergy of two fundamental factors: the se-
lection of the best raw materials (which enable to supply “tailor-made” se-
molinas and flours, perfectly meeting customers’ needs and expectations)
and the high technology of the production process.
Casillo Commodities Italia S.p.A. is the first Italian durum wheat trading
company and one of the foremost trading companies operating in the Me-
diterranean basin. Its multi-decade experience in the field of durum wheat,
high levels of efficiency and excellent reputation on the international pro-
curement markets enable the Casillo Group to purchase all types of grains
produced, as well as other agricultural commodities, in the various areas of
the world. During 2014 it handled more than 3.2 million tonnes of cereals.
In 2015 the trading segment was enriched by the first foreign subsidiary,
Casillo Commodities Brasil S.A., a Brazilian joint-stock company, with he-
adquarters in São Paulo, operating in commodities trading in the markets
of Latin America.
The company Silos Granari della Sicilia S.r.l. provides the support necessary
for the milling and trading activities. Cereal grain storage is fundamental,
and it is strongly synergic with the milling and trading activity, inasmuch
as it enables to purchase various and massive quantities of cereal grains in
every period of the year, offering “constant” quality standards, which is a
very valuable requirement for semolina users. The production sites consist
of imposing metal silos where the raw material is preserved.
19
RETAILPERCENTAGE OF GROUP SALES (2014): 4.7%PERCENTAGE OF GROUP EBITDA (2014): 0.8%
The Selezione Casillo S.r.l. project was launched in 2008 with the goal of
“de-commoditising” common and durum wheat flours through the creation
of a dedicated product, specifically customised for the end user (bread ma-
king, pizzerias, confectioner’s shops and artisanal fresh pasta workshops).
This project thus led to the creation of a logistical and commercial platform
of approximately 12,000 m2, for the creation and distribution of a new
brand with the following strengths:
• offer of a full range of products;
• guarantee of the safety and quality of the product offered;
• dedicated support before and after the sale;
• geo-localised marketing services;
• continuous training and demonstration activity also through the organi-
sation of events for commercial partners.
RENEWABLE ENERGIESPERCENTAGE OF GROUP SALES (2014): 0.1%PERCENTAGE OF GROUP EBITDA (2014): 8.9%
Since 2008, the Casillo Group has dedicated energies and investments
to research activities aimed at identifying solutions for the generation of
electricity through “renewable systems”, to promote lowering the costs of
electricity, impacting ever more heavily on the total revenues of the enter-
prise. To date, photovoltaic plants with total installed capacity of 24MW
have been placed in service in Puglia.
Armonie Italiane S.r.l. is the company in charge of marketing products un-
der the Agricola del Sole brand. The firm Agricola del Sole extends over
a surface of approximately 800 hectares cultivated with vines, fruit or-
chards, olive groves and arable crops. Every year, they yield great quanti-
ties of raw materials used for the preparation of typical products of Puglia’s
gastronomy, where tradition meets innovative processing techniques.

MILLING INDUSTRIES
Our product is the result of the synergy of two fundamental factors: the best raw mate-
rials and a high-tech production process.
The wide availability of raw materials, selected from the best quality sources, allows us
to supply our customers with “tailor-made” semolina that is perfectly suited to their re-
quirements and expectations.
The milling process, unchanged for almost 100 years, has been improved by introducing
state-of-the-art technologies, such as husking and optical selection, which have contrib-
uted to improving the whole production process, helping to increase the healthiness
and quality of the product. Thanks to the wheat milling and processing activity, which
remains the Group’s core business, Casillo Group is now able to produce a wide range
of semolina and flours, having 12 production plants located in several different regions
of Italy.
The quality of our semolina is an essential factor in enhancing the quality of pasta, a tra-
ditional Italian product made for national and international markets. The Group is, in
fact, one of the main suppliers of Italy’s largest pasta makers.

activities. The principal destination markets include Tunisia, Algeria, Cuba, Turkey and
Venezuela, as well as Italy.
In 2014, cereal sales reached a level of 3.3 million tonnes, as a consequence of the pro-
cess of internationalization of the Group.

Cereal storage is fundamental for the milling and trading business, operating in synergy
and allowing a great variety and quantity of different cereals to be purchased through-

Selezione Casillo and Agricola del SoleSelezione Casillo was established in 2008 for the purpose of offering to operators in the
food sector top quality soft and durum wheat flours by creating a dedicated and customi-
sed product tailored to the end user (bread maker, pizzeria, pastry maker or fresh pasta
producer). For this reason, Selezione Casillo, in addition to expanding its range of flours
with references always new (“le Semole d’Autore”, “Madre Pietra Madre Grano”, “I Rac-
conti del Campo”), has created a logistical and commercial platform of around 12,000
m2, accommodating over 8,000 pallets. A full range of products, the guarantee of safety
and quality of the finished product, the dedicated before and after sales support, the
geo-localised marketing services, the on-going training and demonstration activities,
including the organisation of “events” with trading partners, these are the plus that Sele-
zione Casillo reserves everyday to its customers.
Agricola del Sole covers an area of around 800 hectares, planted with vineyards, or-
chards, olive groves and seed crops that every year produce genuine raw materials used
to prepare traditional Apulian products. Agricola del Sole’s core values involve promo-
ting the original sources of food and preserving culinary traditions. From among its pro-
ducts, the ones that truly stand out are its extra virgin olive oils, mainly from the “Corati-
na” cultivar, baked products made from durum wheat semolina and preserves.

RENEWABLE ENERGIES
Energy from renewable sources to fulfil the energy requirements of the milling businessSince 2008, in efforts to cut the electricity costs that weigh increasingly heavily on the
company’s overall turnover, the Casillo Group has been investing time and money to dis-
cover means of generating electricity from renewable sources.
The complexity of the research and the high level of skill required to monitor the results
achieved, have resulted in the Casillo Group establishing a new Business Unit to handle
all the issues relating to current and future projects.
To date, the Group has installed photovoltaic systems in Apulia with an installed capacity
of 24MW.
The Casillo Group has an Environmental Policy, which indicates the principles on which
all its activities are based, the management approach and the organisational respon-
sibilities. The company actively undertakes to prevent and minimize the impacts of its
processes and products on the environment through a series of actions, which concern:
• improvement of environmental efficiency and minimization of the environmental im-
pacts produced;
• constant training and information on the most important environmental issues;
• increase of awareness and communication with the outside world.
The attention paid by the Casillo Group to environmental issues is demonstrated by the
significant certifications obtained:
• the Environmental Management System (EMS) certifications obtained for the Corato
and Pozzallo plants in accordance with the ISO 14001:2004 standard, which ensures
that the environmental impacts of the various production phases are kept systematically
under control;
• the Integrated Environmental Authorization (IEA), for the milling plant of Corato.
Even though not obligatory by law, the authorization requires that all investments, in
particular those that have an environmental impact, be checked and approved by the
competent authorities (ARPA Puglia), before they are made.

QUALITY CONTROL AND FOOD SAFETY
Sustainability and product safetyThe Casillo Group is committed to guaranteeing top quality and absolute safety of its food
products, above all through the monitoring and analysis of the starting materials, products
and byproducts of the grinding process. In general, wheat is quite a safe starting material,
the risk of coming across lots contaminated by antiparasitics or metals is low. In any case, the
European Union has laid down safety standards both for EU products and for imported ones
and the Casillo Group not only complies with the legislation but has also adopted stricter
control systems and quality standards.
To this aim, the Casillo Group uses certified management systems and product certifications
that represent a driver for continual improvement and above all the Food Safety Lab, which
conducts extensive analyses aimed at ensuring the quality and safety of our products.

truno, in honour of their father Vincenzo, founder of the Casillo Group, the Foundation
was recognized as a legal entity and entered on the register of legal entities in Septem-
ber 2014. Taking inspiration from the values incarnated by Vincenzo Casillo during his
lifetime, the Vincenzo Casillo Foundation bases its work on them to favour the new ge-
nerations through projects aimed at supporting education, considered an essential pre-
requisite for every man’s self-fulfilment.
During the course of 2014, the Group allocated a sum of € 500,000 to the Vincenzo Ca-
sillo Foundation. This contribution, which we hope will induce other companies or pri-
vate individuals to follow suit, will enable the Vincenzo Casillo Foundation to undertake
social projects, continuing the quiet and disinterested charity that characterized the life
of Vincenzo Casillo.
