Separating, bonding and combi- yarns for embroidering, knitting and ready-to-wear apparel.

EMS has specialised for many years in ra- tional bonding and strengthening methods for all kinds of textiles.

Grilon Multifil, special products made of COPA and COPES, are low-temperature separation and fusible bonding yarns, produced under a quality assurance sys- tem according to I S 0 9001 . In addition, they also completely satisfy the human ecological requirements of the Eco-Tex standard 100.

It is difficult to imagine the modern textile industry and its periphery without these Grilon Multifil yarns. They serve to simplify process steps i.e. for rationalisation, but are also important for improving the quali- ty of articles not otherwise economically feasible.

Grilon separating yarns

The variety of application possibilities for our products in knitting, chenille and band production or for labels, embroidery, raschel lace and the ready-to-wear apparel industry, can be classified in three important product assortments:

Separating yarns Fusible bonding yarns Combi yarns

Conventional, mechanical separating methods during the manufacture of knitted fabrics are cost intensive and cause abottlenecks~ in the production process. Temperaturesensitive Grilon separating yarns offer a simple solution for separation of knitted articles. The yarns are knitted-in in the place of nor- mal separating yarns, but shrink and disintegrate under the effects of heat from hot-air, infrared rays or steam and provide quick, clean separation of knitted articles such as collars or braiding. This allows not only higher levels of pro- ductivity, but also creates flat and non- bulky edges/selvedges and, therefore, higher quality levels.

Grilon separating yarns are tried and pro- ven in the manufacture of knitted men's and boy's suits and ladies' and children's outerwear as well as for the manufacture of socks and stockings. Where required, the stitching accuracy of the separating yarns also allows knitting with coloured yarns for patterns and ringlets. Cutting and turning of flat braiding is no longer necessary. Grilon separating yarns are also well sui- ted for different colouring processes. They are manufactured in various counts from 75 to 390 dtex and for a separating range between 60' C and 160" C These products are suitable for all fibers and mixtures and are available in the co- lours white, and in some cases in grey, black and red.

Grilon fusible adhesive yarns

Grilon fusible bonding yarns are manufac- tured from COPA or COPES and are available in various counts from 23 to 840 dtex. They can be used in a wide variety of application possibilities in the textile, shoe and labelling industries. The melting range of these products lies between 60" C and 140" C.

Some examples of applications for Grilon fusible bonding yarns are:

trouser waist bands

tubebands for supports in wired bras

labels for clothing and shoes

elastic bands for strengthening picot

edge bonding

the manufacture of bonded sewing thread

securing stitching / loops

One very interesting application area is the manufacture of chenille yarn, for washing- machine resistant pullovers and covers for furniture and automobile seating.

The structure of chenille yarn is not securely stabilised simply by binding of the fiber pile, which is then lost during every working step and wearing, until only two supporting fibers remain. In order to avoid this problem, many of our customers use Grilon fusible fibers to provide an adhesive bond with the pile fibers which can then no longer be pulled out of the basic thread. Products produced in this way are much more resistant to washing, dry-cleaning (PER) and seawater.

Srilon combiyorns

Grilon combi-yarns play an important part in the economics of clothing production. They are made up of a fusible bonding fiber which is twisted with a normally melting polyester or polyamide supporting fiber. When exposed to heat the fusible adhesive fiber of the Grilon combi-yarn, which due to its low melting tem- perature is only used as lower thread, melts and forms an adhesive bond while the sup- porting fiber remains unchanged to form a stitched seam with the top thread.

Grilon combi-yarns are manufactured in vari- ous counts from 45 to 1100 dtex and are available with melting points of 85" C and 140" C.

Application possibilities for these products vary widely:

edge bonding of raschel lace

fastening of very fine embroidery to burn-out gauze for iron-on application

fixing of seams, collar gussets, chest pieces and trimmed edges

leading-edge seams for men's and boy's suits and lady's outerwear.

Grilon combi-yarns can be sewn into normal zig-zag or overlock stitching on edges which are then folded and bonded using a hot iron. The result is a soft, strong seam without marking on the surface of the fabric such as when using fusible film.

Grilon Trenngarne

Die Vielfalt der Anwendungsmoglichkeiten unserer Produkte fur die Maschen-, Che- nille-, Band-, Etiketten-, Stickerei-, Raschel- spitzen- und Konfektionsindustrie verlangen 3 Produktsortimente:

Trenngarne Schmelzklebegarne Kombigarne

Konventionelle, mechanische Trennverfah- ren bei der Herstellung von Maschen- waren sind kostenintensiv und verursachen Engpasse im Produktionsablauf. Die tem- peraturempfindlichen Grilon Trenngarne bieten eine einfache Losung fur Maschen- ware.

Sie werden anstelle von normalen Trenn- faden eingestrickt, schrumpfen und zerfal- len unter Einfluss von Warme wie Heissluft, lnfrarot oder Dampf und ergeben eine schnelle, saubere Trennung von gestrickten Teilen wie Kragen oder Bordchen. Da- durch erreicht man nicht nur eine hohere Produktivitat, sondern auch flache und nicht auf~ragende Kantena bschlusse und somit einen hoheren Qualitatsstandard.

Grilon Trenngarne haben sich in der Pro- duktion von gestrickten HAKA, DOB und KOB sowie in der Strumpf- und Socken- industrie bestens bewahrt. Durch das maschengenaue Trennen konnen nach Bedarf auch farbige Garne fur das Muster und die Ringel eingestrickt werden Das ~chneiden und Umschlagen der Flachbordchen entfallt. Grilon Trenngarne sind auch fur verschie- dene Farbeprozesse geeignet. Sie werden in Feinheiten von 75 bis 390 dtex und fur einen Trennbereich zwischen 60 und 160 "C hergestellt Die Produkte sind f'ur alle Fasern und Mi- schungen geeignet und werden in Weiss und zum Teil in Grau, Schwarz und Rot geliefert.

Grilon Schmelzklebegarne, aus COPA oder COPES hergestellt, und in Feinheiten von 23 bis 840 dtex geliefert, bieten eine Vielfalt an Anwendungsmoglichkeiten in der Textil-, Schuh- und Etiketten-lndustrie. Bei diesen Produkten liegt der Schmelz- bereich zwischen 60" C und 160" C.

Maschensicherung

Ein hochinteressantes Anwendungsgebiet ist die Herstellung von Chenillegarn, fur waschmaschinenfeste Pullover, Mobel- bezugsstoffe und Autositze.

Die Konstruktion von Chenille Garnen ist durch das einfache Einbinden des Flors nicht stabil verfestigt und fallt bei jedem Arbeitsgang und beim Tragen aus, bis nur noch 2 Tragerfaden vorhanden sind. Urn dieses bedauerliche Resultat zu vermei- den, setzen viele Kunden Grilon Schmelz- klebegarne ein. Das Florgarn wird damit verklebt und kann dann nicht mehr aus dem Grundzwirn herausgezogen werden. Die Produkte sind mehrheitlich Wasch-, chemisch Reinigungs (PER)- und Meer- wasser bestandig.

Grilon Kombigarne

Einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Wirtschaftlich- keit der Kleiderprodu ktion leistet das Grilon Kombigarn bestehend aus einem Klebegarn, das mit einem normal schmel- zenden Tragerfaden aus Polyester- oder Polyamidfilament verzwirnt wird.

Durch Warme schmilzt der Klebefaden des Grilon Kombigarns, das wegen der niedrigen Schmelztemperatur nur als Unter- faden eingesetzt wird, und klebt, wahrend der Tragerfaden in einer Naht mit dem Oberfaden erhalten bleibt.

Grilon Kombigarne werden in Feinheiten von 45 bis 1100 dtex hergestellt und mit Schmelzpunkten von 85" C und 140" C angeboten.

Die Einsatzgebiete dieser Produ kte sind sehr breit gestreut:

Kantenverfestigung bei Raschelspitzen

Befestigung von filigranen Stickereien auf ~ t z ~ a z e zum Aufbugeln

Fixierung von Saumen, Kragenstegen, Brustplack, Besetzkanten

Vorderkantennahte fur HAKA und DOB.

Grilon Kombigarn kann mit einem norma- len Zick-Zack- oder Overlockstich an der Kante vernaht und durch Umfalten des Saums mit dem Bugeleisen verklebt wer- den. Das Endergebnis ist ein weicher, fester Saum, ohne Markierung auf der Oberflache wie bei der Verwendung von Schmelzfolie.
