Dr. Wolf-Bertram von Bismarck, PUMA AG

Dear Sir or Madam,

Despite substantial investment in intranets over the past decade, or mostcompanies they’re still not delivering a return on investment in termso use and increased eciency in the way employees access useul andimportant inormation.

Intranets are now the norm but many companies have ound that theyhave not lived up to their expectations. An employee portal improves theprospect by oering benets in terms o usability, return visits andstickiness, improved communications, consolidation o inrastructure, andreeing the knowledge silos created by traditional departmental site design. In a complex digital society static websites are no longer enough to buildrelationships with employees using the intranet. Employee portals have

become the setting or discussion o ideas, opinions and transactions:Web 2.0 and the growth o social networking have created exciting toolsor businesses to communicate and organise with employees.

Now the real challenge is to leverage the power o these new socialnetworks to create innovative and original internal communicationexperiences. Businesses that are not aware o these tools could be passingup opportunities to create a competitive edge and risk looking staid to anincreasingly savvy and social internet population. However, the entire socialmedia landscape continues to change and evolve at a rapid pace. This paceo change in technologies related to portals, content and collaboration hasnever been aster. Consumers have embraced social networking, quicklydriving the technology and behaviour deep into the workplace. The portals, content and collaboration space is moving at breakneck speed.

According to this, the development o social media and a complex digital

society is changing the role and unction o intranets / employee portalsrapidly. Under the heading o „social corporate intranet“ more and moreresponsibles are dealing with the integration o complex tools andapplications to revolute their intranet & employee portals. An increasingnumber o external players have a huge infuence to employee portals.Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter; the collaboration landscape is going tobecome more and more conusing. Social computing will impact yourbusiness rom the inside out and outside in, or both good and bad.

Internal communications is the backbone o every organisation. Successulcompanies now believe that alignment and consistency across the entireemployee base is critical in achieving high business perormance. A ullyunctional and innovative intranet is becoming an increasingly vital toolor improved organisational perormance. A poorly managed intranetquickly disintegrates into an anarchic situation in which websites

prolierate, applications abound and processes are nonexistent.Decisionmakers need to weigh up the benets and disadvantages o integrating various tools into their intranet system. The nancial benetso a consolidated intranet include increased employee productivity romtime saved, and improved knowledge management.

The rst annual “Employee Portal Evolution Masters” in Berlin will discussstrategic approaches to the handling and management o complex intranets& employee portals in rapidly changing digital environment.

This econique conerence provides an excellent opportunity or networkingwith senior executives o Corporate Communication, Intranet, InternalCommunication, B2E Portal Management, E-Collaboration, Enterprise2.0, Digital Strategy / Social Media, Learning and Development, EmployeeEngagement & HR rom all companies across all over Europe and willdiscuss challenges and demands on complex, company-wide and strategic

employee portal programs. With international top speakers at a senior executive level, the EmployeePortal Evolution Masters will establish a new approach in nding the rightstrategy in handling complex digital media or employee portals.

We look forward to welcoming you in Berlin!Your econique team
