Co-authorship has shown an increasing trend in science as

its complexity increases. It is found to be more fruitful to

have multi partner teams working on a single problem.

Computer Science is a relatively new discipline in science

and we can map the field and collaboration patterns from

almost the beginning.

We find like mathematics CS has relatively low

collaboration (66.6% singly authored or two author

papers). With time as the field matures larger networks of

collaboration appear.

Emergence of new areas is shown by the evolution of new

terms using term frequencies and word clouds.

Changes in the collaborative network patterns at different

stages in the development of the field are shown.

Emergence of a giant component is seen.

Growth in Computer Science

Computer Science has grown rapidly as a field.

Proceedings papers have grown faster than

journal papers.
