How it startedIt was my father’s fault. He was so persistent that at the end I just gave in. He bought me a bike on my 16th birthday.

And it was a Spanish one.

How it evolvedMy friends in high-school were excited I would be able to join them during their Sunday excursions. We spent our spring days riding in the mountains and along the lakes near Milan.

Why I like it

The extraordinary feeling of freedom

The bonds you create with your friends

And of course…. The SPEED!

When it goes wrongBut as with all things that are fun, there are risks. And I tasted what it feels like when your worst fears become reality. I had a pretty bad accident and I was extremely lucky not to get worse injuries.

Why I keep doing itIf you ask any rider, they will tell you. Riding is a drug, you get addicted, and you cannot stop. No matter what happens, if you fall from the horse you better get back up. ASAP.That’s why I got another bike.

A bigger one.

How riding has changed me

Sometimes I am surprised at how daring I can be while I ride.

Having a hobby helps me relieve stress.

When I really like something, I never give it up. No matter what

I have become more careful about spending my money. Otherwise I cannot buy gas.

What I have learnt

Enjoy life. You never know when it might be over

Plan ahead. Getting lost(be it in the woods (or in your life) is never fun. Especially at night

Go together. if you don’t have any more gas, your friends can give you a lift

Wear a helmet. Be prepared for the worst case, not only while riding but in facing everyday problems
