At our Summer Conference the Elementary Rookie Principal of the Year will

be honored. A committee from the Elementary Division of ASA will select

the recipient from the nomination and letters of support.

-----APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS-----

1. The nominee must be a member of ASA.

2. The nominee must be a new Elementary Principal of 1-3 years.

Purpose of the Award

The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding new elementary principal who has excelled in

the profession. This award is designed to recognize exemplary leadership to the school and community

during the first few years as a principal.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications for the Award

The nominee should show evidence of the following criteria:

1. Currently an elementary principal.

2. Current member of ASA.

3. Principal for 3 or less years.

4. Demonstrates leadership qualities.

5. As a leader, acts to produce a positive climate, high morale among students, staff and colleagues.

6. The principal involves the community in the life of the school/district and builds community

support for education.

7. The principal is moving successfully to implement the philosophy and goals of the school district.

8. Be nominated by the Superintendent/Supervisor.

Selection/Recognition Process

The selection committee will review the nominations. Recipient will be notified by April 31st and

presented the award at the ASA Summer Conference Luncheon in June.

Required Materials for Application

1. Nomination Form

2. Three letters of support from the following:

a. Superintendent/Supervisor

b. Teacher

c. Parent

(The letters must address the qualifications of the nominee.)

Directions: Attach completed nomination form to the front of the three letters of

support.
