DAMAFIN Air Coolers are used for cooling and condensing all types of fluids. You will find them as process coolers in the oil/gas and petrochemical industries. Furthermore, they are used as partial or total condensers in the oil refinery and petrochemical industry. The most evident advantages of Air Coolers are: • No problem arising due to thermal and chemical pollution of the cooling fluids • Flexibility in installation at any plant locations and plot-plan arrangements such as installation over other units • Reduction of maintenance costs such as the cleaning of the inside of the exchanger tubes, if required • No need of over-sizing the equipment due to tube fouling • Easy installation through bolted assembly DAMAFIN is able to design and manufacture Air Coolers for up to a pressure of 1000 bar application.

INDUCED DRAFT UNIT The induced draft unit provides a steady and durable thermal performance through protection of the finned surfaces against wind, rain, and snow by the plenum chamber. The induced draft also ensures: • Better air distribution • Less hot air recirculation • Less fouling • Lower noise at grade FORCED DRAFT UNIT The forced draft unit allows an easy access to the fans and bundles for maintenance. Furthermore, the fans remain in the cold ambient air.

PLUG HEADER The plug header is the most commonly used up to 350-bar working pressure. The plug hole opposite each tube allows expansion of the tube in the tube sheet, mechanical cleaning and plugging in case of leakage. Seal welding or strength welding can be provided for high partial hydrogen pressure services resulting in a less expensive solution than the use of pipe header generally used for over 200 bar service pressure.

COVER PLATE HEADER The cover plate header is used for fluids with high fouling factors up to 40-bar max when frequent mechanical cleaning is required. It is used for very corrosive process fluids so as to periodically check the corrosion allowances. Special cover plate headers using welded gaskets are provided for hydrogen service units in hydro cracking plants.

PIPE HEADER The pipe headers are used for working pressures over 200 bar. The U-bend tubes are welded to the weldolets on the pipe. The welds are heat-treated and X-ray tested

WELDED BONNET HEADER The welded bonnet type is used in certain cases for special services such as ammonia condensers, freon condensers and vacuum steam condensers. One of the advantages of this design is the full welded construction which provides the perfect sealing required for such applications.

DAMAFIN manufactures a wide range of finned tubes (with aluminum fins) for the following industrial sectors:

• Oil refinery • Petrochemical industry • Natural gas treatment • Chemical industry • Power plants • Gas compressor stations The choice of a fin tube either for a new installation or for replacement spares is important as it determines the durability and efficiency of your air-cooled heat exchanger.Once you have decided on the tube traits (diameter, wall thickness, length, material) and the fin spacings, it remains to decide the type of fin-mounting to be used.

BIMETALLIC EXTRUDED A core tube, or liner, the outside surface of which has been previously polished and carefully digressed, is fitted into an aluminum primary tube. This tube-in-tube assembly is then fed into the fining machine equipped with three spindles, 120 degrees spaced and each fitted with a gang disc. Maximum Working Temperature of 300˚ C, excellent Atmospheric Corrosion Resistance and excellent Mechanical Resistance. Such discs, which are stepped in profile and diameter, will first extrude and shape the fin properly and then shrink-fit theprimary tube on its liner. DAMAFIN has developed a high performance bimetallic extruded 11 fins/inch finned tube and an 11.2 inch diameter extruded finned tube which combines a large flow area with a long life duration.

“G” EMBEDDED The fin consists of an aluminum strip whose foot-edge is both tension wrapped and embedded into the primary tube wall. This ensues from the combined action of a set of two discs and a ring spacer arranged at right angels to the primary tube. Operating sequences are as follows: maximum working temperature 400˚ C, poor atmospheric corrosion resistance, and acceptable mechanical resistance. The first disc (groover) spins a groove into the tube wall, the ring spacer leads the strip foot-edge into the groove, and finally the second disc (back filler) firmly embeds the strip foot-edge into the groove by “caulking “ the groove lip.

KNURLED “L”An aluminum strip is folded to form an L-shape and then is wound around the base tube. The feet of the fins are joined together and cover the whole tube surface. The root of the fin is knurled simultaneously with the inner tube, thus ensuring a tight contact between the fins and the inner tube. Such result is achieved on the entire width of the fin root, by means of the knurling discs working interdependently.
