The bibliographical description of a document contains the following:

Heading, part of the text is in Latin. Displayed: two hemispheres, continent boundaries, name of the states and individual regions, settlements (2 groups), on the territory of North and South America, Africa there are inscriptions of national settling, Magellan expedition route and main sea ways, connecting Europe with America, India and South-Eastern Asia, the Great Chinese Wall as a relief in a way of perspective drawing. Drawings: above the hemispheres there is the Russian Heraldic Eagle against a background of an ermine gown; in the gown framing there are figures of Mars, Apollo, banners and other military symbolics; allegoric drawings with the motto " with counsel power"; under the hemisphere there is a globe in stall, figures of a geographer with quadrant and of a cosmographer at the telescope, et alia; on the cartographic image there are drawings of ships, a whale and shark. Cartouches: denominations "Description of America" "Description of Asia", "Description of Africa", "Description of Europe", "Markings", allegorical drawings with motto in decorative cartouches.Defect structure and restoration: some fragments of the map are absent in the middle of the sheet close to the western frame. Map of the Russian Empire by I. Kirilov

Map of the Russian Empire by I. Kirilov is the first general map of the country reflecting the whole country’s territory for the first time. It

has been created using the astronomic control points, the latest field data and materials of the first instrumental survey of the

country’s territory. The map was published in 1734 and it reflected all the latest scientific achievements of that time.
