BEA

Rendering data from customer Final product to customer

HOW THE PROJECT START

Its BEA’s work to implement all engineering concepts and technology and design the suites to resemble the rendering data.

The technical coordination process consists of a series of meetings asfollows:

Initial Technical Coordination Meeting (ITCM).

Preliminary Design Review (PDR).

Critical Design Review (CDR).

First Article Inspection (FAI).

Customer wants to keep the option of changing the designs until the suites are shipped and we try to freeze the design by FAI.

Seat Actuators

Even if there are n number of actuators, at a time only 4 actuators can be operated. The electrical actuators/operations have to beinterlocked: E.g. It shall be possible to power only that number of actuators at a time that would allow to be under the 90VA-limit.

This restriction is because airbus supplies 90VA / seat for actuators.

All seat-motors are DC-type <42V.

The maximum rotational speed of each seat motor shall not exceed 12,000 RPM

LUMBER SYSTEM

This Lumbar Comfort System is a pneumatic system that includes a pump and valve arrangement that slowly inflates anddeflates an air bladder, gently moving the spine forward and back. Pressure feedback and control allows the user to preciselycustomize the support and get just the right amount of motion for his or her body size and shape.

DECOMPRESSION IN AIRCRAFT

Page 56: Electrical Presentation & General Topics

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/electrical-presentation-general-topics 56/77

If for any reason the pressurization system fails, or a break occurs in the aircraft structure, the result will be a decompression.

Cabin pressurization is the active pumping of air into an aircraft cabin to increase the air pressure within the cabin. It is

required when an aircraft reaches high altitudes, because the natural atmospheric pressure is too low to allow people

to absorb sufficient oxygen. Aircraft that routinely fly above 3000 m (10,000 ft) are generally equipped with an oxygen system.

pressure inside the aircraft IS 70 kPa (10 psi), while the pressure outside is only 15 kPa (2 psi).

pinhole under these pressure differences will generate a high-pitched squeal as the air leaks out at supersonic speeds.

A hole a meter and a half (5 feet) across will depressurize a jetliner in a fraction of a second.

Rapid decompression of commercial aircraft is extremely rare, but dangerous. People directly next to a

very large hole may be forced out.

As the airplane is pressurized and depressurized, the metal skin of the airplane expands and contracts,

resulting in metal fatigue. Modern aircraft are designed to resist this compression cycle.

While designing panels special holes are provided for decompression.

DECOMPRESSION IN AIRCRAFT

United Airlines Flight 811, a Boeing 747-122

Aircraft after reaching 22,000 to 23,000 feet the R5 cargo door tore open, decompressing the cabin and leaving a gaping hole. Five

rows of business class seats were blown out of the aircraft, along with 9 passengers.

Page 58: Electrical Presentation & General Topics

Each A-380 has 530kms (330 miles) of wiring, 100,000 wires and 40,300 connectors

Delay in delivery (about 2 yrs) of the Aircraft is because of wiring.

The A380-800 can fly non stop of 15,200 Km (8,200 nmi), at a speed of 900 Km/hr.

Its maximum certified carrying capacity is 840 passengers in an all-economy-class configuration.

It has 22 wheels. Maximum fuel capacity is 310,000 Lts.

Cost of one A-380 is $319.2 million.

 What Makes An Airplane Fly

Page 62: Electrical Presentation & General Topics

8/12/2019 Electrical Presentation & General Topics

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/electrical-presentation-general-topics 62/77

Thrust = Drag

Lift = Weight

If, for any reason, the amount of drag becomes larger than the amount of thrust, the plane will slow down.If the thrust is increased so that it is greater than the drag, the plane will speed up.

Similarly, if the amount of lift drops below the weight of the airplane, the plane will descend.

In order for an airplane to fly straight and level, the following relationships must be true

Page 63: Electrical Presentation & General Topics

8/12/2019 Electrical Presentation & General Topics

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/electrical-presentation-general-topics 63/77

Thrust : Thrust is an aerodynamic force that must be created by an airplane in order to overcome the drag.

Thrust is a force created by a power source which gives an airplane forward motion. It can either "pull" or "push" an

airplane forward. Thrust is that force which overcomes drag. Conventional airplanes utilize engines as well as propellersto obtain thrust

Drag

Drag is the force which delays or slows the forward movement of an airplane through the air when the airflow direction

is opposite to the direction of motion of the airplane. It is the friction of the air as it meets and passes over and about an

airplane and its components. The more surface area exposed to rushing air, the greater the drag. An airplane's streamlined

shape helps it pass through the air more easily.

LIFT AND WEIGHT

Page 64: Electrical Presentation & General Topics

8/12/2019 Electrical Presentation & General Topics

http://slidepdf.com/reader/full/electrical-presentation-general-topics 64/77

Lift is produced by a lower pressure created on the upper surface of an airplane's wing compared to the pressure

on the wing's lower surface, causing the wing to be "lifted" upward. The special shape of the airplane wing (airfoil)

is designed so that air flowing over it will have to travel a greater distance faster, resulting in a lower pressure area

thus lifting the wing upward. Lift is that force which opposes the force of gravity (or weight).

How Lift Produces

The design of an airfoil's upper surface makes the air flowing over it move faster than the air flowing

under the wing. This increase in velocity reduces the pressure (P1>P2) on the top of the wing so lift is produced
