Make the most of your energy Le Gabardan - France Photovoltaic Power Plant EDF Energies Nouvelles is a 50% owned subsidiary of the EDF group. EDF EN is present in 10 European countries and in North America, and is one of the leaders in the renewable energies market, and particularly photovoltaic solar energy. The group’s objective is to reach a net installed capacity of 500MWp by the end of 2012. To achieve this, it has started the construction of the Gabardan photovoltaic power plant in the French department of Landes. This power plant has a potential total capacity of 76MWp. The power plant will be built on a 780-acre plot of land in the municipality of Losse in the Aquitaine region of France. There are 2 projects to this power plant: an innovative pilot project of 11,100 modules mounted on solar trackers, with an installed capacity of 2MWp, and 1,020,000 fixed photovoltaic modules, with an installed capacity of 74MWp. The future production of this power plant, which will be connected the national electricity grid, will be equivalent to the electrical consumption of almost 40,000 inhabitants.
