Electrical Engineering is the oldest engineering discipline at Johns Hopkins University beginning with a program in Applied Electricity in 1887 and subsequently a program in Electrical Engineering in 1913.
Today the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)department is pioneering research in many areas such as imaging, machine learning, controls, sensors, microsystems, robotics, and photonics.

Master of Science in Engineering (MSE)
The following is the profile of a typical successful applicant:
• Grade point average of at least 3.7• GRE scores of:
540 (156 on revised test) or above on the verbal reasoning part 770 (161 on revised test) or above on the quantitative reasoning part 5.0 or above on the analytical writing part
• A TOEFL score of at least 100 (internet-based test) and IELTS Academic Band Score equal to 7

PhD and MSE
Application Deadline: December 15, 2017 (Fall admission only)
Application Requirements: Completion of online application, statement of purpose, 3 letters of recommendation, GRE, TOEFL/IELTS, Transcripts. All documents must be uploaded through the application.

After the December 15th deadline, the faculty review process begins for the PhD applications. Towards the end of January, the admissions committee will make final selections and offers of admission are sent out.
The faculty review process for the MSE applications follows in mid February.
