Saturday, May 23, 2015 During Memorial Day weekend, Edinburg Hous-ing Authority (EHA) staff hosted a special ceremony to celebrate the official dedica-tion of their Administration Building to Ciro Trevino, a long-time community leader and public servant. Trevino due to his years of service.

EHA and City of Edinburg host special Mother’s Day event

youth to the conference The purpose of the conference was to spread tobacco prevention and to help the agency promote healthy lifestyles. The training was hosted thanks to a partnership be-tween the UNIDAD Tobac-co Prevention and Control Coalition (TPCC) and Say What! – Students, Adults and Youth Working Hard Against Tobacco, which is a statewide initiative managed by the Texas School Safety Center at Texas State Uni-versity in San Marcos, Texas. According to Robert de

Leòn, attending the event was important for the students because they got to

experience what it’s like to interact with many individ-uals and engage in hands-on

learning activities. “Although the students were the only ones from Edinburg, they got to see kids from all over the Val-ley,” said De Leòn. “It helped them realize that they too can be part of big move-ments.” The resident assistant shared that the agency’s will-ingness to seek out these op-portunities for its students plays a big role in encour-aging them to participate and open paths for them to succeed.

community service hours through volunteer events. EHA welcomes any housing students 13 to 19-years-old to join YLA. If you have a child that would like to be a
