USING OUR TIME WISELY A jar of honey lasts practically forever. The oldest jar of honey ever discovered was over five thousand years old. Honey is quite different from market-fresh produce, then; because most fruits and vegetables last only a few days, we treat them carefully. At this time of summer, we rush to find recipes for cherries and cucumbers so we won’t waste a single one. We wouldn’t feel that same urgency about honey. In our own way, we are as delightful and fragile as ripe produce. Today’s readings urge us not to spoil, but to make good use of our limited time on earth. Ecclesiastes reminds us that because God provides for us now and always, we can manage our daily affairs without anxiety. Saint Paul encourages the Colossians to keep thoughts of heaven in everything they do, and Jesus himself asks us to treasure not earthly wealth, but God alone. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Vanity of vanities! All things are vanity! (Ecclesiastes 1:2; 2:21-23). Psalm — If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts (Psalm 90). Second Reading — You too will appear with Christ your life in glory (Colossians 3:1-5, 9-11). Gospel — For though one may be rich, one’s life does not consist of possessions (Luke 12:13-21).

OLGC ADORATION CHAPEL The Adorers of the Blessed Sacrament is a prayer group who schedule silent personal time with Jesus in the Eucharistic Adoration Chapel. Adoration hours at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Many parishioners have signed up to pray one hour a

week – a weekly hour of solitude and peace in our often hectic lives. We need permanent committed adorers all the time. Our goal is to have at least two people on each hour.

Are you the one? While everyone interested in praying is welcome to enter the Chapel, we NEED volunteers to commit themselves to specific time periods so that someone will be in the Chapel while it is available to all parishioners. Come adore Jesus truly present in the Holy Eucharist.

To sign up, please call Sabina at 604.584.5817 or contact the Parish Office.
