An immerse and interactive program, with case study designed ad hoc by the faculty on local orinternational best practices, workshops on breakthrought issues in healthcare management, policyand economics with guest speakers and individual field projects wherein each participant will work
with a faculty professor to design solutions/ideas for everyday work activity.The executive program in hospital management is targeted on multiple professional profiles:
it aims to provide skills and tools to manage, coordinate or head healthcare provider institutions.
The executive program in hospital management is targeted onmultiple professional profiles, wherein the commondenominator is the search for competencies, skills andmanagerial tools to understand and personally manage,coordinate or head care healthcare provider institutions ordepartments, units, services, etc.• Managerial and administrative staff aspiring to lead
functional units of hospital or clinics.• Experienced healthcare managers aspiring to «C» level
positions: Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officers.• Clinical professionals, working in secondary and tertiary care
hospitals, who wish to transition from clinical toadministrative/managerial positions.
On average, classes will be of maximum 30-35 participants foreach module.
This full executive program is made up of 5 modules of 3 daysface-to-face training, plus workshop on-site and a final fieldproject. At the end of the 5 modules, SDA Bocconi school ofmanagement provides a certificate of advanced training inhospital management.Each module could be attended separately to gain clearcompetence on one specific topic and attendance will becertificated. The full executive program will be accreditated byDubai Health Authority.

MODULE 1 ORGANIZATION AND LEADERSHIP
This module provides participants with an overview of the hospital organization and thedifferent functions that managers must perform. Participants will gain core skills andcompetences in using the tool-boxes with four management functions: planning, organizing,leading, and controlling.
The module aims to strengthen managerial roles within health organizations through theprovision of the most innovative framework developed for supporting decision making,communication, strategic management, and human resource management as well as thecontinuous and interactive discussion prompted by the expertise of professors as well as bythe networking with colleagues in class.
MODULE 2 CLINICAL MANAGEMENT AND OPERATIONS
The clinical management has gained increasing importance in the last years with theemergency of chronic conditions. Indeed, even within hospitals and acute care settings newtrends address either on streamline and make more seamless and integrated care pathwaystargeted on specific conditions.
To this extent, the course aims promoting the application and understanding the value ofclinical governance within healthcare organizations, as the core asset to pursue and guaranteetransparently quality standards based on the Evidence Based Medicine, as well as to curb thecost curve by rationalizing the use of internal resources.
Clinical management allows reducing unjustifiable variations of services (output, timeliness,outcomes, access, appropriateness etc.). The course indeed will exploit the use ofadministrative and claims data to serve the scopes of clinical governance and managementwithin hospital settings.
MODULE 3 PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT ANDBUDGETING
The control and performance monitoring drive mangers’ decision making over how allocatingresources, guaranteeing the quantity and quality standards of services provided, monitoringcustomers’ expectations and needs.
Management control tools can shape behaviors within organisations. With public sector, themission and strategies give the management control system a particular perspective as it isdesigned and implemented where resources are scarce and prices do not represent the valueof goods.
Indeed, in healthcare, services provided are multifaceted and differentiated; performancesare multidimensional and goals (and success) are not easily definable and attainable.Participants will understand logics and functioning of management control systems as well asthey will gain skills for designing and using them in healthcare organizations, public or privateones.

MODULE 4 QUALITY, RISK MANAGEMENT AND AUDIT
The module will analyse in depth and enable participants to understand how the audit andrisk management cycles work within a hospital setting and how they should be stronglyintertwined with the operations system management and clinical management in place.
The module thus will provide expertise on how to define and set up the service standards;the core activities and procedures; the indicators and analytics to monitor the expectedperformances; and the transparency of procedures for clients/patients.
The course will prompt the understanding on how the use of a monitoring and auditingsystem should have a summative value for the organisation, fuelling the continuous qualityimprovement and guaranteeing excellence to the clients.

MODULE 5 INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGIES: MANAGING DRUGS, DEVICES AND PROGRAMS
Scientific progress and technological innovation generate new opportunities of care with atremendous rate of new proposals every year.
However, Governments are cost-constrained by definition and not all the promises of newbenefits can be integrated in healthcare systems. The mismatch between innovativetechnologies and public resources requires healthcare systems to adopt decisional modelsaimed at reducing the loss of potential benefits to the lowest possible level.
Participants will be made familiar with the decision process of Health Technology Assessment(HTA), and explicit and rational system of analyses (clinical and economic evaluations),dialogue with stakeholders and policy actions.
