Collaboration with Lancaster University
CIIT and Lancaster University, UK have joined forces
for combined undergraduate programs in Electrical
Engineering, management and computer sciences.
CIIT is the first institute in Pakistan to successfully
launch dual degree programs and benefit from
Ministry of Science and Technology's initiative to
hail collaborations with foreign universities.
Launch of Graduate Courses
Electrical Engineering Department has launched classes for Masters of Science in
Telecommunication Engineering from Fall 09 Semester. Courses offered in this
semester include Probability and Stochastic Processes, Digital Telephony, Queuing
Theory for Performance Analysis and RF Systems Engineering.
Establishment of Cisco Networking Academy
The department of Electrical Engineering at CIIT Lahore has been awarded the status of a Cisco Networking Academy by Cisco Systems.
This has been made possible under the guidance of worthy director and honorable HOD EE. It all began in July this year when two lecturers, Muhammad Haleem Junejo and Muhammad Yasin, were nominated for CCAI (Cisco Certified Academy Instructor) training at Cisco Regional Academy, Islamabad.
The Academy has successfully launched its first course CCNA Discovery 4.0 from 2nd November, 2009 with an enrollment of about 30 students and faculty members. Instructors include Haleem Junejo, Muhammad Babar Ali and Muhammad Yasin.
Message from the Head of Department
I am pleased about the release of the second newsletter by our department. What you would
find in it, is a wide variety of projects, research highlights and extracurricular activities, which
I think show a healthy department in terms of the quality of the faculty and student body. I
am particularly enthusiastic about the approval of dual-degree programs in collaboration
with Lancaster University and launch of graduate course in department that hallmark a new
era of progress and development. I welcome all new colleagues and those who have re-
joined after completing their studies abroad, and have brought international academic
exposure with them. I congratulate those who have been awarded scholarships and will soon
be leaving to pursue higher degrees. I would like to appreciate the efforts of all the members
who have contributed for the development of the department. Dr. Saleem Akhtar, HoD EE
