An evaluation process to determine what is needed to meet a goal.

It is also a tool used to help gather information to help plan a effective professional development.

To increase student test scores by integrating technology into instruction.

MCJHS Goal: To encourage the use of technology and the appropriate computer resources to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources. To use the learning tool to solve problems, make informed decisions and communicate knowledge and ideas effectively to multiple audiences through use of various media and formats.

The school uses fundraisers and grant money to pay for software and digital tools. Each department has their own fundraiser and writes their own grants. The English Department and Math Department both received money from the Young's Fund Grant.

The topic choices were based off of the equipment available throughout the school that are available for teacher use. Teachers would be more interested in learning how to utilize the tools they already have available to them.

I began the survey by explaining the reason for the survey and what the results will be used for.

I informed the participants that all information will remain confidential.

I first asked what type of tools each teacher have in their classroom.

This question helped me get an idea of how much equipment is available in the classrooms.

• I asked the teachers to rate their technology skill level to help me plan my presentation and instructions accordingly.

• The topic choices are based off tools that the faculty is constantly being asked to use with their instruction.

• Lastly, I let them choose which type of model they would prefer. I gave them the choice between in person or web-based.

The choices were promethean board, promethean expressions/voters, teacher computer, student computer, digital camera, scanner, document camera, iPad, and other. It seems everyone has access to a computer, but not promethean boards. There are some with at least one student computer in their classroom as well.

The results… There are 2 beginners, 12 that are familiar, 11 are proficient, and 3 experts.

The results… 57.1% prefer in person and 42.9% prefer web-based

According to the survey results, the topic for the PD will be teacher sites.

I will use Weebly as the main focus of my PD.
