Editorial
Dear Reader
Greetings of the Day!
We don’t learn from experience…………….
We learn from reflecting upon experience………
John Dewey
We are pleased to bring to you our official newsletter
‘Reflections’ issue from April, 2017 to September, 2017. It
captures the spirit of all the special occasions and memorable
moments of collaborative learning in the school through various
scholastic and co scholastic activities. All the events and
programmes are directed towards providing our children an ideal
platform to experience, experiment, explore and enhance their
latent abilities.
Through this issue we want to take the opportunity to
congratulate all those who have won awards since the last edition
of the newsletter. Awards do remind us of our objectives,
constant hard work and perseverance but the true meaning of
learning is to attain perfection in whatever we do. It is rightly
said that if we take care of small things, big things will take
care of themselves.
We thank all those who have contributed to make this newsletter
see the light of the day.
Enjoy each moment of your engagement with all these activities
as there is no rewind in life, only the flashbacks…… and of
course Reflections!
Happy Reading

In Conversation with the Principal Ms.
Rashmi Malik
What initially inspired you to pursue a
career in education?
I started my career in the IT industry as a
software developer and gradually took up
software training in corporate and public
companies which I realized was my
strength. I switched over to school teaching
in 1995 and since then there is no looking
back.
How do your own life experiences affect your approach to work?
Having an open mind towards work is very important. You cannot
discover your passion and achieve expertise without trying your hand in
various areas. That’s exactly I experienced in my life while actively
participating in all possible activities in college life as well as working in
IT industry and then in school environment.
What have you learnt from your time as the head of reputed schools?
Heading a school is very exciting as it gives you power to change the
future course of the society. You can shape young minds to charter a
dream world with aware and enlightened future citizens. Every moment
in school we learn as each moment is never same. Huge responsibility as
we grow together with the team and students.
What characterizes the student graduating from your school?
The students who go out in the world after completing schooling will be
the leaders in their respective fields and environments. A well-groomed
individual with inner strength to face the challenges with a positive
frame of mind who will empower others and create happiness all around.
What makes the learning environment more special?
The learning environment becomes special because of the individuals
who are in it. If they are focused, the learning improves and distractions
cause wastage of time. Humour, lots of love and happy spaces make
learning fun.
Which features of the school do parents value the most?
I really think it is the interaction with teachers and the areas or activities
where they get associated with the school.
![Page 4: Editorial - Adrienne Danrich...learning is to attain perfection in whatever we do. Principles and philosophies which you promote at the school are:
I believe in promoting basic human values of love and respect for every
human being and the environment. Everyone wishes to be happy in their
lives but struggle to find the ways for it; I try to give guidance as per my
experience in life for the same.
How do you get the children to do their best academically?
By inculcating the spirit of self competitiveness and aiming the target
and by helping them discover right strategies. Students should take
failures as situations to improve their inner strengths while aiming higher
and higher in life.
Which other areas of education and extra-curricular activities do you
plan to develop?
Education and extra curriculum activities go hand in hand in the overall
development of a child in school. Every child should get the age
appropriate exposure in both levels. I have a lot of things in my mind and
I will be implementing the most progressive education related activities
regularly with a strong base in human values.
How do you encourage understanding between cultures?
Every individual’s culture is different from others. Working on
individual understanding is the only canvas which broadens up. If we
can accept each other with respect and take it as a new experience, any
culture of the world will enrich us. With this thought a person can
become a true global citizen.
What are the main challenges for education as a whole in the future?
Future challenges are to cover the gaps between the education sector and
the industries. We need to include skill-based trainings and guidance to
students at school as well as college levels. Industries need to work hand
in hand with education sector wherein they need to spend extra time and
effort to make students employable. Lots of efforts need to be done in
research and innovation areas which also need to be structured.
How do you plan to equip your students for future success?
I wish to equip students with the right attitude to discover their passions
and pursue them. Success will definitely follow. I go by the famous line
from a movie “Kaabil bano, Kaamyabi apne aap piche aayegi.”

If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it, then I
can achieve it. … Muhammad Ali
Toppers Speak
To begin with, I had never thought in my wildest dreams that I was capable of achieving what I did. There were always people who
I felt were better than me. I would constantly compare myself with others on every aspect, be it studies, sports or even social media.
I tried to mimic what others did to get what they had. A life changing moment came when one of my teachers inspired me to not
compare myself with others but to compete with myself. He said that everyone has problems and challenges in life and encouraged
me to find my own identity. Well, surely this took a lot of time for me to understand as it was against my beliefs. But gradually as I
did so, I started coping with the boredom of constant pressure of class twelve. I changed and even at the time of examination, I never
thought of getting a full score. My only focus was to write my paper in such a way that I could apply all my knowledge to the given
question in an appropriate manner. The manner could only be learnt by the vast experience of my teachers. I wish to conclude with
the message that try to give your best to improve yourself and be patient for the results to come.
This is my story of starting a journey without knowing what lies ahead. I was diagnosed with Dyslexia which didn’t come as a shock
to me and my family as they were fully supportive and accepted to face the challenge with determination. My School played a
significant role in my life. Counselors at my school and especially my teachers encouraged me and infused a new self confidence into
me that was unknown to me before. Not much changed except that I decided not to give up and make my family proud. I didn’t lose
hope. I changed the way I studied. I was more inclined towards experimental studies which made me learn things more comfortably.
It was hard at first but with perseverance and determination, in time, I realized I was much stronger than what I thought of myself. I
took life more positively and looked at each hurdle in life as a new opportunity. My hard work yielded result when I scored 90.2%
marks in boards and got selected in my dream college, International Institute of Hotel Management. I know, that I am now confident
and can see what lies ahead!

Every day spent in this school has given me moments I will cherish for my entire life. A greenhorn to alphabet, I entered and
departed with a topper’s tag. What more could one want! The undaunted support of the school provided an impetus for me to
develop from a meek and shy child into the flag bearer of the school. For me, the zeal to outperform ignited by the school, provided a
stimulus to be what I held potential for. Who could imagine an academically mediocre child with no confidence to reach such a high
pedestal? Honesty, I couldn’t. I feel grateful to all the teachers who guided me towards the right path, held my hand when I lost faith
in myself and motivated me to persevere till I achieved success,to all the support staff who made this little kid happy when he was
away from his mom, Krishna didi and Anil Bhaiya who never made him feel away from home. Memories of childhood are indeed
eternal!
The feeling of having topped in class is something that I would not be able to appropriately describe in words. A feat made
possible only because of the support, effort and encouragement of my parents and teachers. I have always considered myself to be
average in academics and therefore I dedicate my success to my school, to all my teachers, parents and friends who not only
believed that I had the ability to get good grades but also made me believe in it and work towards it. I was made to realise that if
one has the hunger and desire to win, one will win under any circumstances. My routine for preparation for the boards was not very
complicated. I used to make sure that once I sat down for studies, it was only me and my books. My parents used to make sure they
kept all distractions like mobile phones, TV and computers away. They acted like a support system throughout my examinations.
My teachers used to plan tests in the oral and written forms for our class with a chapter daily and that was a huge help. So in short,
the mantra is to take it slow but with concentration and focus. You don’t need to worry about the result. Instead, just keep an eye on the target.

future. Dr.Suresh in his address said, ‘We should shrug off our insecure
mindsets of pursuing only conventional professions like doctors,
engineers, rather we should allow students to chase their dreams and
excel in different spheres of life like sports, arts and communication.’
