Simplify images! Use repositionable glue stick before gluing elements down to see how much you want to put on one piece.

Surface Texture:
Try adding paper towels, rice paper, thick gesso that has been scored into, waxed paper, small 3D objects, etc. to
create surface texture.
This separates hand-made collage from digital.
