ddy current is currently widely used to inspect Ethe ferrous and non-ferrous steel materials like Stainless steel, Brass & Aluminum.

Eddy currents (Electromagnetic testing) are generated in a conductive material by a changing magnetic field. The strength of these eddy currents can be measured. Material defects cause interruptions in the flow of the eddy currents which alert the inspector to the presence of a defect.

Eddy currents are also affected by the electrical conductivity and magnetic permeability of a material, which makes it possible to sort some materials based on these properties.

retirement from the Indian Institute of Technology in the year 1998 after teaching and doing research in the areas of nondestructive evaluation and metal casting for nearly 30 years and later he taught at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore from 1998 to 2004.

Presently he is stationed in Chennai and is working as a consultant to M/S Sundaram Brake Lining, Chennai and a few steel foundries. He has published multimedia educational CDs and conducts Level III orientation courses.

Dr. O. Prabhakar obtained his B.Tech and Ph.D in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai and M.E in Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore. His primary areas of interests are nondestructive evaluation and metal casting.

He retired as Manager in Corporate Quality-Chennai in Feb 2013. He has 34 years of field experience in NDT & Quality Audit and surveillance activities in the Global recognized organization Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) in various divisions.

He acted as Secretary- ISNT Chennai Chapter –He is one of the Faculty of ISNT Chennai Chapter and promoting NDT activities of the organization since 1988 onwards. He occupied himself as course director for several ASNT-SNTTC-1A Certification Training Courses in various NDT methods as organized by ISNT Chennai Chapter and several academic Institutions and Industries.

Highly experienced faculties from reputed organizations / institutions with wide experience in the field will also be assigned to share the sessions with case studies & demonstrations.

COURSE FEE:

Rs. 18,000/- + (12.36% ST) per participant. The Fee includes, course material, course kit, Lunch, Tea / coffee and snacks during the Tea Breaks in the Morning & Evening Sessions on all actual days of training programme and Examination days. The course fees paid would not be returned in case of cancellation or absent by the participants.

10% discount for three or more participants, if sponsored by the same organization.Additional 10% discount on course fee is allowed for the participants who are bringing equipments with accessories (All discounts are applicable only if fee is received by the Institution before the commencement of the programme. Service Tax as applicable (FY 2012-13 @ 12.36%) is to be paid extra over and above the training fee.

Please Note: The participants who make payment will get the course material in advance subject to their assurance in bringing the same to the Training Programme otherwise the course book will be issued subject on the receipt of additional payment for course book.

The participation certificates will be issued only to the participants who have attended all Theoretical and Practical sessions.

Examination

The examination application forms & qualification norms and necessary instructions would be forwarded to those who have registered for the NDT Programme . The Examination fee Rs 500 + Service Tax to be paid extra by the participants who wish to appear ASNT –SNT-TC1A Certification Examination at the time of Registration .The Examination will be conducted by authorized ASNT-Level III personnel as per norms of ASNT-SNT-TC1A .
