COASTThe Ecuadorean Coast region extends from

the western slopes of the Andes to the Pacific Ocean.

The Ecuadorian Coast holds three main ecosystems: the tropical wet forests, the tropical savannas, and the dry forest.

It is the country's most fertile and productive land

Provinces of the Coastal region: Bolívar, Esmeraldas, Guayas, Los Ríos, Manabí, El Oro, Santa Elena and Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas.

The largest city of the Coastal region is Guayaquil.

HIGHLAND: The highland region consists of the Andean

provinces: Azuay, Cañar, Carchi, Chimborazo, Imbabura, Loja, Pichincha, and Tungurahua.

Most of Ecuador's volcanoes and all of its snow-capped peaks are located in the the Highland.

Agriculture enhances most of the traditional cropssuch as potatoes, maize, and quinua.

The population is predominantly indigenous. Quito is the largest city with an estimated

population of 1,397,698 habitants.

and provinces Morona Santiago, Napo, Orellana, Pastaza, Sucumbíos, and Zamora-Chinchipe.

This area holds the largest reserves of petroleum in Ecuador.

The population is primarily mixed indigenous and numerous tribes in the deep jungle.

The largest city in the Amazon is Lago Agrio with and estimated population of 26,004.
