WHAT IS TELEWORK?
• the term 'telework' refers to a flexible working arrangement in which an employee performs his/her duties and responsibilities from an approved and external worksite.
• In practice, ‘telework’ is a working arrangement that allows an employee to perform work at an approved alternative worksite. This definition of telework includes what is generally referred to as remote work.
TELEWORKING GUIDE & POLICY
• Establish a policy under which conditions eligible employees may be authorized to telework.
• Incorporate telework into Continuity Of Operations (COOP) plans
• Ensure that each eligible employee authorized to telework works according to agreed telework procedures.
• Designate a TMO (Telework Managing Officer) to serve as the primary point of contact with OPM (Operational Performance Management) on telework matters.
• While developing telework policies, consult with OPM as needed for policy guidance in various areas such as performance management, pay and leave, recruitment and retention, etc.
