Mega Food Park Scheme (MFPS) is being implemented by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries. The scheme has been creating modern infrastructure for the food processing industries since 2008. A Total of 42 food parks have been planned, and 37 Mega Food Parks have recently been approved out of which 19 are already operational. It is a scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing that establishes a “direct linkage from farm to processing and then to consumer markets”.

खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योग मंत्रालय द्वारा मेगा फूड पार्क योजना (एमएफपीएस) लाग ूकी जा रही है। यह योजना 2008 से खाद्य प्रसंस्करण उद्योगो ंके लिए आधुनिक बुनियादी ढाँचा तैयार कर रही है। कुल 42 फूड पार्क की योजना बनाई गई है, और 37 मेगा फूड पार्क हाल ही में स्वीकृत किए गए हैं, जिनमे ंसे 19 पहले से ही चालू हैं। यह खाद्य प्रसंस्करण मंत्रालय की एक योजना है जो “खेत से प्रसंस्करण और फिर उपभोक्ता बाजारो ंतक सीधा संपर्क” स्थापित करती है।

37 Mega Food Parks in 23 States/UTs Approved

On September 17, 2020, India opened its first exclusive private jet terminal at New Delhi Indira Gandhi International Airport. The Terminal was inaugurated by the Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The airport will allow movement of 150 jets on daily basis. The new terminal has capacity to handle over 50 passengers in an hour. The new terminal has been in operation since July 2020. The Terminal is to start its operation from September 20, 2020 after a security nod from the Bureau of Civil Aviation security

India’s first private Jet Terminal at New Delhi:

India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) recently exited from Sudan oilfields. This step was taken by ONGC after the African nation refused to pay for oil it lifted from the fields. Sudan had not paid the OVL since 2011, for oil it bought from the block. Sudan’s dues towards OVL stands at USD 430.69 million. Oil and Natural Gas Corporation is an Indian public sector multinational company that works in crude oil and gas sectors. Its head office is in New Delhi. It is owned by the Government of India.

ONGC exits from Sudan

The Reserve Bank have proposed to allow foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) to undertake the rupee interest rate derivatives which is subject to a ceiling of ₹5,000 crore. These directions aim to encourage high non-resident participation, to enhance the role of domestic market makers in the other market, to improve transparency and to achieve better regulatory oversight. What are Interest Rate Derivatives (IRDs)? IRDs are the Financial Instruments whose value is linked to the movements of the interest rates through varying interest rates, prices of interest rate instruments, or interest rate indices.

RBI Issues Draft on Rupee Interest Rate (IR) Derivatives Directions 2020

Heavy rains forecast across the central and western regions have raised the fears of crop losses in the last week of September. This year, the retreating monsoon is expected to pick up in most parts of India with heavy rainfall in the farming belts. Impact of Monsoon on Indian Agriculture The Indian economy heavily depends on the agriculture. About 70% of the Indian population depends on farming either directly or indirectly. 58% of the total employment in the country is in the agriculture sector. Contribution of Agriculture sector stands at 18% of the GDP.

Heavy Rains Forecast Raised Concerns for Kharif Crops

The Banking Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2020 which is an amendment to the Banking Regulations act 1949, was introduced in Lok Sabha on September 14, 2020. The Bill also replaces the Banking Regulation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2020 that was promulgated on June 26, 2020. The Bill provides power to RBI so as to initiate scheme for reconstruction or amalgamation without imposing any moratorium. The Bill provides that no person will have the power to demand payment for surrendering shares that have been issued to him by a co-operative bank.

बैंकिंग विनियमन (संशोधन) विधेयक, 2020 जो कि बैंकिंग विनियम अधिनियम 1949 का एक संशोधन है, 14 सितंबर, 2020 को लोकसभा में पेश किया गया था। विधेयक में बैंकिंग विनियमन (संशोधन) अध्यादेश, 2020 की भी जगह ली गई है, जिसे 26 जून, 2020 को प्रख्यापित किया गया था। विधेयक आरबीआई को शक्ति प्रदान करता ह ैताकि बिना किसी स्थगन के पुनर्निर्माण या समामेलन के लिए योजना शुरू की जा सके। विधेयक यह प्रावधान करता ह ैकि किसी भी व्यक्ति के पास सहकारी बैंक द्वारा जारी किए गए समर्पण शेयरों के लिए भुगतान की मांग करने की शक्ति नहीं होगी।

Banking Regulation (Amendment) Bill, 2020

Government of India have released a notification banning the export of all varieties of onions. The ban has been imposed three months after the central government made changes in the Essential Commodities Act, 1955. What will be the impact of Export ban? Down surge in the price of onion is expected after the notification. However, the marketers and traders are speculating that the price may increase again within a week till the new supply come in November. Essential Commodities Act, 1955 is the Act that empowers the government to regulate the production, supply and distribution of essential commodities so that consumers get them at fair prices.

India Bans Export of all Varieties of Onion

The Asian Development Bank have predicted that the Asian economy will shrink for the first time since the early 1960s amid the COVID-19 Pandemic. The report states that downfall in the level of growth will continue until the next year. The Development bank had earlier in June 2020 predicted that the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of World will increase slightly by 0.1 but GDP of the Asian region will decline by 0.7%. Asian Development Bank (ADB) is a regional development bank that was established in 1966. The bank is based in Manila, Philippines.

एशियाई विकास बैंक ने भविष्यवाणी की है कि COVID-19 महामारी के बीच 1960 के दशक की शुरुआत में एशियाई अर्थव्यवस्था पहली बार सिकुड़ जाएगी। रिपोर्ट में कहा गया है कि विकास के स्तर में गिरावट अगले साल तक जारी रहेगी। विकास बैंक न ेपहले जून 2020 में भविष्यवाणी की थी कि विश्व के सकल घरेलू उत्पाद (जीडीपी) मे ं0.1 से थोड़ी वृद्धि होगी लेकिन एशियाई क्षेत्र की जीडीपी में 0.7% की गिरावट होगी। एशियाई विकास बैंक (ADB) एक क्षेत्रीय विकास बैंक है जिसे 1966 में स्थापित किया गया था। बैंक मनीला, फिलीपींस में स्थित है।

ADB: Asian Economy to shrink for First Time since 1960s

Three key projects related to the Petroleum Sector in Bihar has been dedicated to the Nation by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi through video conference on September 13, 2020. The three projects include- Durgapur-Banka section of the Paradip-Haldia-Durgapur Pipeline Augmentation Project LPG Bottling Plants in East Champaran and LPG Bottling Plants in Banka.

PM inaugurates Three Petroleum Sector Projects

The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) had conducted the second edition of the States’ Startup Ranking Exercise. The key objective of the exercise was to foster competitiveness and work proactively towards uplifting the startup ecosystem. Gujarat has been categorized as the best performer among all States and one Union Territory (UT), Delhi. Karnataka and Kerala have been ranked as ‘top performers’.

Ranking of States on Support to Start-up Ecosystems

SAROD-Ports, stands for Society for Affordable Redressal of Disputes – Ports, was launched by Union Minister of State for Shipping (I/C) Shri Mansukh Mandaviya on September 10, 2020 through a virtual ceremony in New Delhi. In January 2018, the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had approved amendments in the Model Concession Agreement (MCA). The amendments in the MCA, proposed the constitution of SAROD-Ports.

SAROD-Ports Launched by Shipping Ministry

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced on September 10, 2020 that a Digital Payments Index (DPI) will be launched. The index will assess and capture the extent of digitalization of payments effectively. The DPI will be based on multiple parameters It is going to assess accurately about the penetration and deepening of various digital payment modes. It will help in bridging the gap of digital divide. It was recommended by a committee headed by Nandan Nilekani on deepening digital payment.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the doorstep banking services for public sector banks. This will facilitate the users a hassle-free and convenient banking service. The services provided by the Doorstep Banking can be availed through Agents who has been deployed by the selected Service Providers at 100 centers across the country. These services can be availed at nominal charges. They would benefit all customers, particularly the Senior Citizens and Divyangs.

Doorstep Banking Services launched by Public Sector Banks

Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, has launched the Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE-Atal New India Challenges (ANIC) initiative. It will help in boosting research and innovation in Indian MSMEs and startups. The programe is being driven by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), four ministries namely, Ministry of Defence; Ministry of Food Processing Industries; Ministry of Health and Family Welfare; and Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs; and other associated industries so as to facilitate innovative solutions to different sectors.

Atal Innovation Mission Launched Aatmanirbhar Bharat ARISE-ANIC Initiative

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will digitally launch Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. He is also going to launch e-Gopala application. About Matsya Sampada Yojana The scheme will be launched for sustainable development of fisheries in India. It is going to be implemented between 2020-21 and 2024-25. Under the scheme, total funds allocations to the fisheries sector is Rs 20,050 crores.

प्रधान मंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी डिजिटल रूप से प्रधान मंत्री सम्पदा योजना का शुभारंभ करेंगे। वह ई-गोपाला एप्लिकेशन भी लॉन्च करने जा रहा है। मत्स्य सम्पदा योजना के बार ेमें यह योजना भारत मे ंमत्स्य पालन के सतत विकास के लिए शुरू की जाएगी। यह 2020-21 और 2024-25 के बीच लागू होन ेजा रहा है। इस योजना के तहत, मत्स्य पालन क्षेत्र को कुल धन आवंटन 20,050 करोड़ रुपये है।

What is Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana?

Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced, during the inaugural speech at the first World Solar Technology Summit held on September 8, 2020, that five Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) will join the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Coalition for Sustainable Climate Action by contributing to the corpus fund of ISA. The PSUs which are going to join the coalition are, Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and GAIL India Limited.

Five PSUs of India to join International Solar Alliance Coalition

The Union cabinet approved amendments to the labour codes on September 8, 2020. The Three codes include social security, industrial relations, and occupational safety and health (OSH) out of four codes that was proposed in the Industrial Relations Code, 2019 bill. Industrial Relations Code, 2019 The bill recognizes trade unions. It seeks to provide pension and medical benefits to gig workers. The codes will define areas and conditions in which fixed-term employment can be allowed.

Cabinet Approves Amendments to Three Labour Codes

To build a high-speed 82-km Delhi-Meerut regional rapid transit system (RRTS) corridor, India and Asian Development Bank (ADB) signed a 500-million-dollar loan on September 8, 2020. This will improve regional connectivity and mobility in the Delhi-NCR region. The corridor connects Sarai Kale Khan, Delhi to Modipuram, Meerut. The corridor will reduce the journey time to one hour from current three to four hours. The project is going to be implemented by National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC).

82 किलोमीटर लंबी दिल्ली-मेरठ क्षेत्रीय रैपिड ट्रांजिट सिस्टम (आरआरटीएस) गलियारे का निर्माण करन ेके लिए, भारत और एशियाई विकास बैंक (एडीबी) ने 8 सितंबर, 2020 को 500 मिलियन डॉलर के ऋण पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इससे दिल्ली-एनसीआर क्षेत्र में क्षेत्रीय कनेक्टिविटी और गतिशीलता में सुधार होगा। गलियारा सराय काले खां, दिल्ली से मोदीपुरम, मेरठ को जोड़ता है। गलियारा यात्रा के समय को मौजूदा तीन स ेचार घंटे तक कम कर देगा। यह परियोजना राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र परिवहन निगम (NCRTC) द्वारा लागू की जाने वाली है।

ADB provides loan for Delhi-Meerut RRTS Corridor

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Rural Development & Panchayati Raj Shri Narendra Singh Tomar has inaugurated 22 bamboo clusters in 9 States namely Gujarat, MP, Maharashtra, Odisha, Assam, Nagaland, Tripura, Uttarakhand and Karnataka. A logo for the National Bamboo Mission has also been released through a contest held earlier. By the launch of logo, India is all set to increase the export of bamboo products. The winner of the logo contest is Shri Sai Ram Goudi Edigi of Telengana who was selected from 2033 entries received on MyGov platform.

The Reserve Bank have accepted the recommendations of the KV Kamath Committee on ‘Resolution Framework for Covid19-related Stress’ which was submitted by panel on September 4, 2020. The Committee has recommended the financial ratios for 26 sectors which could be taken into consideration by lending institutions while finalizing a resolution plan for a borrower. Though the committee has not specified the amount to be used for restructuring.

KV Kamath committee recommends 26 sectors for Loan Restructuring Scheme

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) have decided to conduct simultaneous purchase and sale of government securities under the Open Market Operation (OMO) for Rs 10,000 crore. Operation Twist.
