ECODRIVE03 SMT-02VRS Differences to SMT01 3-1
DOK-ECODR3-SMT-02VRS**-FV01-EN-P
3 Differences to SMT01
3.1 New Functions
Backlash compensationParameter S-0-0058, Reversal clearance has been added. The value ofthis parameter is either added or subtracted to the actual position valueas a correction value in the event that the motional direction is changed. This makes it possible to compensate the disruptive effects of a staticpart (e.g., in a gear). Whether the parameter is active or not is displayedin parameter P-0-0401, Pos. corr., active correction value.
Frictional torque compensationWith the help of parameter S-0-0155, Friction compensation the usercan parametrize a torque that is locked into in the event that the drivechanges direction in order to compensate a torque.
Selecting a linear or cubic position command value interpolator inposition control
The firmware is outfitted with a cubic position command value interpolatorin addition to the linear one. The interpolator can be switched inparameter P-0-0187, Position command processing mode.
With linear position command value interpolation the position commandvalues from the control are given one NC cycle later at the positioncontroller. The velocity and acceleration pre-controls can change duringthe course of an NC cycle.
With a cubic interpolator, the transmitted position command values are atthe position controller two NC cycles later. Cubic interpolation can causethe velocity and acceleration pre-control to change in every positioncontroller cycle.
Ventilating the Motor Holding BrakeTo give the user the option of ventilating the motor brake, parameter P-0-0542, B100 Command Release motor holding brake was added.Starting this command means that the motor holding brake releases.
Monitoring the Motor Holding BrakeThe user can check the motor holding brake function in two ways:
• Automatic check each time the drive enable is applied or removed. When switched on, the brake is checked as to whether it actuallyopened or not; when shutdown, it is checked whether the nominaltorque can be achieved.
• Manual check by starting the new command P-0-0541, B200 Brakecheck command. This first checks at low torque whether the brake isreleased. If it is, then the brake is closed and then the nominal torqueis checked. If the brake does not achieve its torque, then the attemptis made to establish it by looping it in.
3-2 Differences to SMT01 ECODRIVE03 SMT-02VRS
DOK-ECODR3-SMT-02VRS**-FV01-EN-P
Digital OutputA parameter can be allocated to parameter P-0-0124, Assignment IDN -> Digital output. Bit 0 of this allocated parameter is output at digitaloutput X3/8 and bit 1 at digital output X3/10.
Synchronous Motor with Incremental Measuring System
Note: The combination "Synchronous motor with incrementalmeasuring systems” may only be used if Drive Development isconsulted and has approved it!
This firmware can operate linear and rotary synchronous motors withincremental encoder systems. The commutation offset is determined forthis motor/encoder combination every time the drive is run up intooperating mode and the drive enable is applied.
The following encoder systems can be used:
• Incremental sine encoder, 1Vss level
• Incremental square-wave encoder, 5V-TTL signal
• Gearwheel encoder with 1Vss level
Synchronous Motors in Fieldweakening RangeSynchronous motors suited for fieldweakening can be operated using thisfirmware in the fieldweakening range. This function must be activated inparameter P-0-0538, Motor function parameter 1.
Customer PasswordThe user himself/herself can select that parameter which is to beprotected with a customer password. Those parameters that are to beprotected can be entered in parameter S-0-0279, IDN-list of password-protected operation data. The default state of the parameters of S-0-0192, IDN-list of backup operation data can be found there.
Optional Setting of Absolute Dimension via the Zero Switch InputThe “Set absolute dimension” command can be activated not only viaparameter P-0-0012, C300 Command ’Set absolute measurement’, butalso via the zero switch input. Parameter P-0-0612, Control word forsetting absolute measurement was added in order to be able toalternate between this and the conventional method.
This parameter also offers the user the option of switching the coordinatesystem (actual position value) immediately upon activation of commandP-0-0012, C300 Command ’Set absolute measurement’ or not untilafter the start of command S-0-0148, C600 Drive controlled homingprocedure command or upon removal of the drive enable.
ECODRIVE03 SMT-02VRS Differences to SMT01 3-3
DOK-ECODR3-SMT-02VRS**-FV01-EN-P
Filter for the Actual Velocity ValueA low-pass filter with a filter time constant of 8 ms can be activated forparameter S-0-0040, Velocity feedback value via parameter P-0-0538,Motor function parameter 1.
Note: The filter only works for the display.
Taking Cooling Mode into Consideration when Scaling the Torque/ForceData
The way a motor is cooled changes the standstill or nominal current of themotor. All torque/force data of the drive are scaled in per cent values andrelate to the standstill and / or nominal current of the motor. To obtaincorrect torque / force data for the various cooling methods of MDD, MKDand MHD motors, it is necessary to take the cooling method into accountwhen scaling. A factor is defined via parameter P-0-0640, Cooling typethat gives the peaking of the standstill and / or nominal currents.
Cooling type Parameter value Factor
not cooled 0 100 %
cooled 1 150 %
water cooled 2 190 %
Fig. 3-1: Adapting the display of torque / force values in cooled MDD, MKD andMHD motors
Note: With any motors other than MDDs, MKDs and MHDs, theparameter value in P-0-0640 must always be set to zero.
Pulse wire encoder / resolver offset detectionThis function may only be used by Rexroth Indramat personnel and, forthis reason, can only be accessed with the master password.
Once the master password is input, then the detection procedure can bestarted with parameter P-0-0550, B000 Pulse wire / resolver offsetdetection.
3-4 Differences to SMT01 ECODRIVE03 SMT-02VRS
DOK-ECODR3-SMT-02VRS**-FV01-EN-P
3.2 Expanded / Altered Functions
Load base parameters with "PL"If “PL” is displayed on the drive display after the drive controller isswitched on, then the phases will not run up and communication with thedrive controller will not be possible. It is necessary, in this case, to firstpress the S1 key of the controller.
Absolute Encoder Evaluation and Monitoring of Two AbsoluteMeasuring Systems
The use of a second absolute encoder back-up now makes it possible tooperate two absolute measuring systems without any restrictions.Plausibility checks of the absolute encoder data are now also possible sothat any replacement of the encoder will definitely cause the encoderhome to be cleared.
Homing with Permanently Defined Travel Paths in Distance-codedEncoders
It is now possible to home gantry axes with distance-coded linear scales. It was necessary to implement this function because the travel path ofdistance-coded encoders required to find home was permanently fixed bythe distance of the homing mark.
The function “Homing with fixed travel path” is activated by setting bit 8 inparameter S-0-0147, Homing parameter. The drive runs over at leasttwo homing marks and then stops regardless of whether it has detectedthe homing mark or not.
Travel Path Monitoring for Distance-Coded Encoders and RotaryIncremental Encoders
Travel path monitoring has been introduced for distance-coded encodersand rotary incremental encoders.
Determining the Commutation Offset with Synchronous Motors withAbsolute Measuring Systems
Determining the commutation offset is still fixed at the start of commandP-0-0524, D300 Commutation adjustment command. It now suffices, however, if the drive is in "Ab". Torque control does not have to beactivated any more.
Improved Spindle Positioning for Modulo AxesWhen positioning modulo axes, that path equal to the dividend ofparameters S-0-0103, Modulo value and S-0-0294, Divider for modulovalue is the one that is traversed. This makes it possible, despiteinputting a multiple of the physical modulo value into S-0-0103, Modulovalue, to traverse the physical value when positioning the spindle.
ECODRIVE03 SMT-02VRS Differences to SMT01 3-5
DOK-ECODR3-SMT-02VRS**-FV01-EN-P
Parameter S-0-0294, Divider for modulo value was added to implementthis function.
Automatic Control Loop Settings for Modulo Axes as wellParameter P-0-0169, Travel distance for autom. control loop adjusthas been added so that the “Automatic Control Loop Settings” functioncan be used with modulo axes as well.
Additionally, the user can specify via parameter P-0-0165, Selection forautom. control loop adjust the motion that the drive conducts while thecommand is being executed, which controller can be optimized and whichadditional value should be determined.
Scaling Dependent Emulation of an Absolute EncoderThe absolute encoder emulation of the signals "Actual position valueencoder 1", " Actual position value encoder 2" and "Position commandvalue" is scaling depending, in other words, dependent on S-0-0076,Position data scaling type.
Encoder Emulation with Zero Pulse with Relative EncoderThe functionalities of encoder emulation have been expanded to supportzero pulse outputs in linear motors and relative encoders also. As long asa relative encoder has not been homed, the zero pulse cannot be output.Once homed, the zero pulse is always output at a specific position (homemark).
Probe with Quick Halt FunctionThe probe function has been expanded. This option makes it possible toswitch the velocity of the drive to zero with a positive flank of the “probe 1”signal. After the drive has decelerated at maximum torque, it remains inthis state until the probe release for probe 1 is cleared. The drive thencomplies with the command value of the control.
Parameter S-0-0169, Probe control parameter has been expanded toaccommodate this function.
Probe with "Rapid Measure"The “rapid measure” function makes it possible to measure rapid andsequential probe signals without having to constantly clear and set theprobe enable.
The function is activated via parameter S-0-0169, Probe controlparameter, which has been expanded for this purpose.
Motor temperature sensor monitoring in linear motorsThe motor temperature sensor (PTC) of linear motors is monitored forcable breaks and short circuits. If and when necessary, error messageF221 Error motor temperature monitor defective is generated.
3-6 Differences to SMT01 ECODRIVE03 SMT-02VRS
DOK-ECODR3-SMT-02VRS**-FV01-EN-P
Expanding parameter S-0-0403, Position feedback value statusTwo new bits have been defined in parameter S-0-0403, Positionfeedback value status. These are bits 1 and 2.
Expanded structure of a parameter:
Bit 0: Actual position values0: are relative1: relate to machine zero point
Bit 1: Status of motor encoder0: actual position values are relative1: homed
Bit 2: Status of optional encoder0: actual position values are relative1: homed
Fig. 3-2: S-0-0403, Position feedback value status
Command "Parking Axis"It is now also possible to start the “parking axis” command in phase 4.
The command can also be configured in parameter S-0-0145, Signalcontrol word because it is in S-0-0399, IDN list of configurable data inthe signal control word.
