ECLAMPSIA INTRODUCTIONThe word eclampsia derived from greek which means To shine forth or flash of lightening in the sense of sudden occurrence. Apregnant mother with pre- eclampsia can have the possibilities of ecclampsia . An acute and life threatening complication during pregnancy. Also known as toxemia of pregnancy and hypertensive disorder of pregnancy.Es 2DEFINITION Defined as when pre eclampsia is complicated with convulsion and coma.

STAGESPREMONITORY Patient becomes unconcious, eyeball rolls turns to one side and fixed, spasm for muscles on face, limb, tongue.

TONIC whole body undergoes a state of spasm. Tongue protrudes, tachypnea, cletching of hands, fixed eyeball.

CLONICjerky movements, secretions in mouth, tongue bite, twitching starts from face gradually spreads all over the body.

STATE OF COMA a state of confusion which may continue till the next seizure attacks.
