Here’s the rundown!● Students will be entering their course selections in Aeries.
● Students need to enroll in 6 classes.
● Students will complete Google Form for course selection
■ Must include alternates for electives
● Counselors will review selections & contact you if there are questions
Course Selection Process➔ Step #1 -- View this course selection process presentation.
◆ Counselors visit English classes week of February 22.
◆ This presentation will be available in Google Classroom & on school website
◆ Course request Google form is available in Google Classroom
➔ Step #2 -- Research courses
◆ Talk to teachers, counselors, parents, friends
◆ View ECHS 2021-2022 course catalog here!
◆ Know which courses have prerequisites!
➔ Step #3 -- Enter course selection / choices in Aeries
◆ Must choose 6 classes
◆ Include at least 4 alternates in Google Form

You must take these classes in 10th grade:*We have pre enrolled everyone in World History *and English 10. If you wish to take AP classes, you will need
to change in AERIES course requests.
World History
Or
AP World History
*unless you successfully completed World History Model UN in
grade 9.
English 10
Math

Science

science: 1 year of life science
and 1 year of physical science.
➔ Chemistry and Physics must
be taken concurrently with
Math 2 or higher.
➔ Earth/Space and
Oceanography can be taken
with Math 1.
World Languages

the equivalent of a level 2
language other than English
class.
➔ One semester of community
college = level 2. Ex. Spanish
101 at Mira Costa meets your
graduation requirement.
➔ Seal of Biliteracy
requirements
PE is required in 10th grade. Choose one of the following:
Team Sports Dance 2 or 3 (must audition)
Body Dynamics Team Sports- Running
Skate PE Team Sports- Football
Weight Training Team Sports- Baseball/Softball
Dance 1 Team Sports- Basketball
Applied Fitness Concepts (one semester; required for graduation)

Dual Enrollment with Mira Costa College
● College classes taken at EC with other high school students at
no cost! Earn high school credit and college credit at the same
time.
● If interested, make sure to check the box on your Google Form.
● Courses vary by year. Classes we have offered in the past
include: Math 102, 103, 112, 115; Counseling 100; Italian
Culture; CSIT 180, Child Development 113, Music 112, Film 112,
Soc 101, etc.
Graduation with Honors
Beginning with the graduating class of 2021:
Students who complete all of the following by end of 1st semester of the senior year
will be considered Honor Graduates:
● Four AP or Community College classes (numbered 100 or higher, including Dual
Enrollment or Concurrent college courses) with grades of C or higher (1 English, 1
Math or Science and 2 others)
● Perform 50 verifiable hours of community service.
● 9-12 GPA of 3.5 (not including PE or TA classes) at the end of the seventh
semester
● An autobiographical essay in senior year (as required by UC application process).

How To Enter Course Selections in Aeries
➔ Sign into your student Aeries
account.
◆ You cannot do this in a parent
account!
➔ Hover over “Classes” and click
“Course Request Entry”
◆ This is where you will enter
courses
➔ Use the drop down menu to select the subject area for
your course (red arrow)
◆ You will need to do this step for ALL classes you enter!
◆ Refer to the course request form in Google Classroom as a
reference
➔ Click the course you want to enroll in (yellow arrow)
➔ List your 4 alternates in priority
to the right of the primary
courses
➔ Alternates will not replace
course on the left, but will
replace elective course (if
necessary)
➔ Science, Visual/Performing Art,
Other Electives (PE, ROTC,
CTE)
Alternates
➔ When you’re done entering all your classes, hover
back on “Classes” and click “Course Request”.
◆ There you will see a summary of your course requests
