The beginning was in 1848 founded by Edward J Darley and Samuel Butler

• Business then covered Estate Agencies, Commission Agents, Imports/Exports and Distribution
• With the export business declining , the company shifted it’s focus on imports , local sales & distribution of consumer goods.
• Instrumental in setting up The Chamber of Commerce and the Port of Colombo
• In recognition of the services rendered by EJ Darley, a road in Colombo city was named as Darley Road.
• In 1967 Darley Butler became a wholly owned subsidiary of EB Creasy & Co.
