ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

EASWARI ENGINEERING COLLEGE (EEC) (A unit of

SRM group of educa�onal ins�tu�ons) is func�oning

under the aegis of “Valliammai Society”. The society was

founded in the year 1975, by Dr. T. R. Pachamuthu,

Founder Chairman, an academician and educa�onist for

promo�ng the cause of quality educa�on. EEC was

established in the year 1996, with the approval of AICTE,

New Delhi and Govt. of Tamilnadu. The college is affiliated

to Anna University, Chennai since 2002. Most of the

courses have been accredited by NBA, NAAC and ISO

9001:2008 cer�fied.

Under the adept leadership of Dr. R. Shivakumar,

Chairman, EEC has been performing creditably, garnering

top ranks in surveys by Government and Private bodies.

The College offers 8 Under Graduate and 11 Post Graduate

Programmes covering Engineering & Technology,

Computer Applica�ons and Management. The college has

a strong industry- interac�on with reputed na�onal and

interna�onal organiza�ons.

The construc�on industry consumes more natural

resources than any other industry. With the

development of materials and technology, many

new materials find their applica�on in the civil

engineering to deal with the infrastructure.

NCSMGT-2016 is aimed at smart materials that

deserve a wide focus from research to applica�on.

And NCSMGT-2016 was also focused on geospa�al

techniques to protect our natural environment for

the survival of present and future genera�on need

either directly or indirectly.

The full paper not exceeding 8 pages, typed on one

side of A4 size as per IEEE double column format.

Authors are requested to submit one hard copy of

the full paper along with duly filled registra�on form

and the DD to the convenor and so� copy in E-mail.

Extended versions of the selected papers of

NCSMGT'16 will be considered for possible

publica�on in a scopus indexed journal.

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in

the College since the year 2007-2008 with an annual

intake of 60 students. The intake was increased to 120

from the academic year 2012-2013. Since incep�on, the

Department of Civil Engineering has been impar�ng

knowledge in ‘General Engineering Concepts’ and

‘Studies’ in ‘Civil Engineering’. With the concurrent

acquisi�on of technical skills in laboratories, inspira�on

and awakening of the young minds by vibrant teachers,

the students are engaged intellectually, in the college.

These cri�cal contribu�ons lead the students to explore

and discover the wonders of their minds, which in turn

synergize together and enable the students transform

themselves to become true engineers and technologists

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

The Department consists of Nine experienced faculty members of which six are Doctorates. Three faculty members are pursuing Ph.D. The Department has two Professors, six Associate Professors and one Assistant Professor. Our laboratories are well equipped with all equipment to cater to the needs of the students and to do the research work. Our lab has been recognised as a nodal centre for research work by Anna University, Chennai. Our faculty members have published a good number of papers in reputed National and International Journals.The Department organises National Conference, Science Exhibition, Guest Lectures & National seminar. “Chem Star” objective type talent exam is conducted for students every year and also releases “Chem Flash” newsletter every three months.Department has two funded projects from various funding agencies like DST-SERB and AERB.

ABOUT THE SEMINAR Environmental science is an interdisciplinary academic field that integrates physical, biological and information sciences (including ecology, biology, physics, chemistry, plant science, zoology, mineralogy, oceanology, limnology, soil science, geology, and atmospheric science) to the study of the environment and the solution of environmental problems.

Environmental science emerged from the fields of natural history and medicine. It provides an integrated,quantitative and interdisciplinary approach to the study of environmental systems.

Environmental studies incorporates more of the social sciences for understanding human relationships, perceptions and policies towards the environment. Environmental engineering focuses on design and technology for improving environmental quality in every aspects. Scientists work on subjects like the understanding of earth processes, evaluating alternative energy systems, pollution control and mitigation, natural resource management, and the effects of global cl imate change. Environmental issues almost always include an interaction of physical, chemical, and biological processes. Now-a-days Environmental scientists bring a systems approach to the analysis of environmental problems. The aim of this seminar is to bring the environmental experts to share their knowledge about the the need for a multi-disciplinary approach to analyze complex environmental problems and the need of growing public awareness for protecting the environment.
