GUEST LECTURE ON WATER DEVELOPMENT PLANT

The Department of Civil Engineering of Easwari Engineering College organized a Guest lecture on

5th February, 2018 for the Third year UG Students. The lecture on “Water development plant” was delivered

by Mr.S.Jothiramalingam, Director, Eco Water Private Limited, Chennai. The one and an half hour session

was absolutely informative to the third year students.

The Session was start with an introduction about water development plant by Dr.S.Virapan,

Professor/Civil. After that Mr.S.Jothiramalingam explained in brief about the water treatment plant and

explained all the process. He compared everything with the industries so all the students actually got more

information on water treatment plant and he also spoke about sewage treatment plant. He showed us videos

too relating to the water treatment. It was followed by a demo where he purified the dirty water to drinking

water using ultra filters.

All the students were+ enlightened with his lecture and got a lot of information on that field.The

session came to an end with the delivery of vote of thanks from Ms.A.Anjana, third year student/Civil.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT – L&T ECC

The students of B.E., Civil Engineering second year students from Easwari engineering college went

for an industrial visit to L&T ECC Ltd on 09.02.2017 & 12.02.2017 located at Manapaakam, Chennai under

the supervision of Mr.Lenin dhal, Mrs. Saravana karthiga, Mr.Dinesh kumar, Mrs.Nandhini Assistant

Professors, Civil Dept – EEC.

On that day, they split up into two batches of students, Batch I visited museum and latest trend in

construction projects and then proceeded by next batch of students. Then we listened key points about safety

measures should be followed inside campus. Thereby we listen to power point presentation of L&T projects

going across India and undergoing in step by step construction sequence. The students also got the real

picture of building structures in different orientation like entire building resting on single column and with

different shape of structures constructed over there which shows analysis of construction mechanism.

Some feedback from students includes that they got clear idea about the construction projects and

know what the practical drawbacks in projects are and how to rectify and overcome it. So we are very much

thankful to you for a great opportunity to visit the site.

They are very thankful to Larsen and Tubro Engineering construction company (L&T ECC) nad

corporate communication manager Mrs.Shamala for guiding and clear explanation about various

methodology adopted in projects.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT –Sewage Treatment Plant”

The students of B.E., CIVIL ENGINEERING III year Students from Easwari Engineering college

went for an industrial Visit to Sewage Treatment Plant , on 12.03.2017 & 13.03.2017 located at Perungudi

and Kodungaiyur, Chennai under the supervision of Mrs.Shreelekha, Mr.Ashwin, Mrs.Anuradha, Mr.Ajith,

Assistant Professors, Civil Dept – EEC.

On that day, they Split up in to two batches of students, first batch visited Perungudi STP and

Second batch visited Kodungaiyur STP. Then we listened key points about safety measures should be

followed inside Sewage Treatment Plant. There by we listen to Water Treatment Process undergoing in step

by step structures and The students got the real picture of Treatment which they studied Environmental

Engineering.

Some of Feedback from Students are got clear idea about the Sedimentation, segregation and

purification of Sewage water and know about practical draw backs in process and how to rectify and

overcome that. So, we are very much thankful to you for a great opportunity to visit the site.

They are thankful to Chennai Metro Water Supply Sewage Board (CMWSSB) and Plant Incharge

and Executive Engineers for guiding and clear explaination about various methodology adopted in that

Plant.

GUEST LECTURE ON DISASTER MANAGEMENT

The Institution of Engineers and The Indian Concrete Institute Students’ Chapter,

Department of Civil Engineering, Easwari Engineering College hasorganized a GUEST LECTURE ON

DISASTER MANAGEMENT on 22/02/2018 at 3:30 p.m in Library Seminar Hall. The Guest Speaker for

the Lecture is Dr.T.S.Sridhar, Retd.IAS Officer and Director General of SRM group of institutions.

Sir shared a lot of information about disasters and how to overcome them. He concentrated about

disasters such as Fire Accidents, Earth Quakes, Floods and Tsunami, and gave solutions to problems that

were caused by these disasters. He spoke about the major disasters faced by Tamil Nadu and how they

tackled by the Disaster Management Department of Tamil Nadu. He also shared lot of information on

Rescue numbers and Rescue Organisations. The Lecture was an interactive session and very informative to

the students. Finally the vote of thanks was delivered by Head of the Department of Civil Engineering

Dr.S.Lavanya Prabha.
