888.615.8318 TRUPANION.COM TRU STORY When my puppy Maelee was six months old, Dr. Kaser and Dr. Hickey of Brewster Veterinary Hospital suggested that I sign up for health insurance for Maelee through a Trupanion certificate. It was only $45 per month, and I chose a $300 deductible for each condition. A few days after a healthy spay procedure, Maelee had a horrific accident while recovering at home. Within 24 hours she went from the veterinarian’s to the overnight emergency clinic, and then on to the emergency hospital. The doctors gave her less than a 25% survival rate! But somehow, by some miracle, Maelee survived. I remembered that I had pet health insurance and wondered if they even covered such a thing. A day or two later, I got a call from the local Territory Partner for New England informing me that Trupanion was covering Maelee’s bills at 90% and any current or future bill relating to her injury would be covered as well. Trupanion paid the hospital directly and the final bill was close to $28,000! Trupanion paid over $25,000 while Maelee was on a certificate and saved my dog’s life! This was beyond my belief - Maelee had better health insurance than me! In April 2017 Maelee was dying of liver failure because she had a reaction to the fungal medication. At first it looked like Maelee was once again going to fight, but this was one obstacle she would not be able to defeat. I said my goodbyes to her on April 27th, 2017. Trupanion was there with me every step of this dog’s fulfilled life. In the end, Trupanion paid close to $40,000 over the course of four years.
