RACE TO THE FINISH LINE

East-West stadium located on 12th Street in Fairmont,WV was built by the WPA in 1938. Recognized as the state's premier football center, this wonderful Historic Landmark has served the community and its children well for many years. Her stone walls have heard the shouts of joy and seen the tears of heartbreak as teams have won and lost over the decades. Many famous athletes have performed on her turf. However she had fallen on hard times and was in need of a major restoration, much of which has been accomplished over the last two years. A new digital scoreboard was added, new lights and poles were installed, the stone walls and entrance got a facelift, handrails were place on the stairs for safety, and the press box and restrooms were remodeled.

RACE TO THE FINISH LINE The last phase of the project is now on the table. The concrete stands need restored and bleachers replaced. To accomplish this task we need your help. We are asking businesses and residents to donate. Each section will cost $40,000 and 10 sections need replaced. Fairmont has lost so many historic structures in recent years. Please help us preserve the stadium which hosts over 190 sporting events with over 100,000 fans passing through its gates each year. Many community members use the stadium track for wellness walking. It has been the site of the East- West game for 74 years and holds countless memories for the thousands of students and parents of both schools. Please join us in THE RACE TO THE FINISH LINE by sending your check for $100 or more to help us complete the restoration of this Historic Landmark.
