1) The Lay Servant Ministries’ Basic Course—taught in English. This course focuses on the many ways lay servants are called to be in ministry through such things as leading, teaching, serving, proclaiming the gospel, disciple-making, storytelling, and growing through personal spiritual formation.

3) Creating “Disciple-Making” Systems—This course will use Joseph Arthur’s book “12 Essentials for Disciple-Making.” Arthur is a former FUMC DeLand Assistant Minister with keen insight into winning souls for Christ. Facilitator: Rev. Owen Stricklin, Senior Pastor of First UMC, DeLand

4) Transformación de Evangelismo Transforming Evangelism-The Wesleyan Way of Sharing Faith—taught in Spanish. This course will use the book by Henry Knight and F. Douglas Powe, Jr. Their explanation of evangelism is steeped in the Wesleyan tradition, exposing how God’s love and grace comes to each of us as we once received it, through the gift of proclamation. Facilitator: Rev. Ana Andujar-Velez, Retired Clergy

SCHEDULE & FEES

The cost of the training event is $45 and includes materials, along with breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lay Servant certification for Local or Advanced Lay Servants requires ten hours of class time. Anyone can take an Advanced class for no credit toward certification. Cancellation Fee of $25.00 for all cancellations after materials have been mailed to participant. No cancellations accepted after Friday, October 7, 2016.
