Held in mid-August at the Hyatt Regency Downtown Sacra-mento, CCNC delivered on accredited continuing education, industry trade show networking and information sharing, and fun. The dinner banquet and casino night, the latter of which was held at the I-Max Theater across the mall, provided a different twist to the traditional event.CCNC 2014 President, Barbara Hall, and Vice President, Jack Corry, led the two-day plus conference through a three-track course schedule, pro-viding the latest on Liability and Property insurance claims information, and more. Keynote Speaker, Adam Greenberg, set a dramatic tone of perserverance with his story of making it to the Big Leagues, only to get beaned by the first pitch thrown his way. The presentation, “The Role & Practice of Social Media Investigations in Claims Handling” utilizes actual case studies of social media investigations which have affected claims outcomes. The procedures of conducting social media investigations is discussed, including the legal parameters of this activity. It analyzes the role of an independent investigator to collect and preserve evidence for potential litigation and testimony.It is part of an insurance claims professional’s responsibility to be familiar with resources

Brad Balentine is Director of the Special Investigations Unit for David Morse & Associates, a multi-state claims services com-pany headquartered in California. He has over 20 years experience as a fraud investigator and man-ager. Mr. Balentine is a licensed private investigator in California and Florida, and certified as a continuing education instructor. He has provided testimony as an expert witness, and has authored several published articles on the subject of insurance fraud.
