What Do Kentuckians Do?

• Not long ago, most people in Kentucky earned their living by farming. Towns grew near the farms. Other jobs, like running a store or a bank, depended on farming, too.

• Today most people work in manufacturing and service industries.

• Some work in offices: others work in factories. They may repair cars, build homes or even work in the mining industry.

• The things people do for a living in Kentucky tell much about our culture.
