What is the Early College
Program?
• A partnership between TUSD and IVC that allows students to dual enroll in classes at Tustin High Schools and Irvine Valley College
• Students complete their high school diploma and earn two years of college credit for an Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC) Certification

Benefits of the program
• Students earn transferable college credit
toward their lower division general
education requirements for the UC and
CSU college system
• Reduces cost of postsecondary education
• Students experience IVC
• IVC receives FTES funding

Program Overview
• Students take two IVC classes each summer,
beginning their incoming freshman year
• During the regular school year, students take
four TUSD classes and two IVC classes each
semester
• Students have the opportunity to participate in
other HS campus programs including Model
United Nations, athletics, and band

Enrollment
• The application process includes teacher
recommendations, a minimum of a 3.0
GPA, a writing sample, and principal
approval
• Students must enroll during the beginning
of their freshman year

– 34 students in first cohort
• Graduate in 2011
