Preschoolers Learning Together (PLT)

Looking for a FREE

preschool opportunity for

your child?

Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) Early Childhood Special Education program serves children with devel-opmental delays, ages two to five years old. Through the Preschoolers Learning Together (PLT) program we include typically developing children (age two years, six months to four years old). In this program, children have the opportunity to participate in a preschool program, and serve as role models thru language, behav-ior, social, play, and motor skills, for preschoolers with special needs.

This successful ACPS program offers developmentally appropriate, play-based activities that allow students to learn at their own pace. Within the classroom, students are supported as they learn how to interact with peers and adults, while learning pre-academic skills through early literacy and play activities. They also gain an understanding of the diverse abilities and individuality which exists in their community. All classes are taught by licensed early childhood special education teachers, being supported by qualified paraprofessionals.

Program Basics:

Days: Monday through Friday (Preschool classes follow the standard ACPS school calendar.)

Time(s): 8:00 – 11:00am - or - 11:20 am – 2:35 pm

Locations: Charles Barrett Elementary, Jefferson-Houston School and Early Childhood Center

The PLT program is open to children of Alexandria City residents between the ages of two years, six months to four years old by September 30, 2020. A complete list of registration guidelines is available online.
