Aloha Nimitz ‘Ohana,
Congratulations to our boys and girls basketball teams who participated in
the Radford Complex Tournament at Radford High School on January 19-20,
2017. There were a lot of parents who came out to support our students. I
would like to acknowledge our coaches, Mr. Ryan Kam, Ms. Erin Kam, and
Mr. Todd Matsumoto for preparing the teams for this event. Thank you to
the coaches and players for doing a fine job representing Nimitz.
Starting Tuesday, February 14, 2017, the teachers will begin preparing our
3rd - 6th graders for the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA) scheduled for
the month of April by administering the Interim Assessments in their
classes. The SBA will measure not only what students know but how well
they can apply their knowledge in real-world situations. If you are
interested in assisting with your child’s preparation, there is an online
practice test that can be accessed through a link on the Nimitz website or
directly to alohahsap.org/SMARTERBALANCED/students/.
On Thursday, February 9, 2017 our 4th graders will be participating in the
Hawaii State Assessment (HSA) for Science. This test is aligned to the 4th
grade science Hawaii Content and Performance Standards III (HCPSIII). It is
especially important that your child gets a good night’s sleep and a healthy
breakfast the morning of the assessment.
Finally, please join us for McTeacher’s Night coming up on Thursday,
February 16, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the McDonald’s located at the
Moanalua Shopping Center. Hope to see you there!
Mahalo,
Marcy Kagami

Radford Complex Basketball Tournament Students from Grades 4-6 participated in the Radford Complex Basketball Tournament on January 19 and 20. After a month of grueling practices during recess our boys and girls basketball teams were eager to play teams from the other elementary schools in the Radford Complex. Both the boys and girls basketball teams played their hearts out, hustled back and forth, maintained a good attitude, showed good sportsmanship and demonstrated teamwork in every game. The boys team had a 3-3 record and the girls team had a 4-2 record. Congratulations to both teams! Let’s all be good neighbors…
Our community is our strength
Please be good neighbors to the Church of Christ by honoring their space.
Do send a big MAHALO to the Church of Chr ist for allowing our school
to use their parking lot during large events like the Fall Festival.
Do use the sidewalk side of the street.
Do park in marked stalls.
Don’t cut through the church grounds to get to school or return home.
Don’t park on the grass; it damages the ir r igation system.
Don’t block the gravel dr iveway at the rear of the parking lot.
General Learner Outcome #6 Effective and Ethical User of Technology The Ability to use a Variety of Technologies Effectively and Ethically
