    JUNE REFRESHMENTS: MORE FOOD FOR

    THOUGHT QUILTER’S VERSION

    Live life like a quilt:

    *Be soft when it’s important;

    *Be warm when it’s cold.

    *Be proud to show your colors;

    *And always scrap together

    when times are tough.

    Dear Friends,

I don’t know about you, but I’ve been reflecting on some of the things I

miss during the COVID crisis. Things like picking out my own fruits and veg-

etables at the grocery store. Eating out at a restaurant once in a while.

Going to a movie. Going to church! Running to a shop whenever I need/

want anything. Running out for elastic. Meeting with friends and sharing,

especially with other quilters. Babysitting our granddaughter with lots of

giggles, hugs, and kisses then handing her back to her parents at the end

    of the day!!!!

Whenever I start dwelling too much on the things I miss, I remind

myself of all the things that I am grateful for during this time. Such as, time

to sew to my heart’s content! Time to work outside in the garden!

Time to read! The internet. Curbside pickup. Online shopping. Online church

services! Zoom! (I’m getting pretty good at scheduling and attending

meetings this way). Also, getting to see all of our children via Facetime,

Skype, and Zoom! (Yeah! Little Eve still recognizes us whenever we visit this

way!) A nice stash of fabric, supplies, and ideas for sewing. Feeling useful by

making masks, etc. Finding my bias tape maker! Ha!

I’m sure most of you have experienced much of the same restlessness

and thanksgiving. I’m not sure when we will be able to see each other in

person. Only time will tell, but I am sure that we will certainly rejoice and

have fun when we do. In the meantime, continue to stay safe, wash your

hands, practice safe distancing, and wear a mask in public to protect others.

    Keep on stitching,

    Betty

    Library Corner

If your quilt needs a special border or a border

inspired by India or Pakistan, then you need to

check out this book of bias appliqued designs. The

author included easy to follow instructions for

drawing the pattens. Simply create a grid of dots

and connect the dots for your pattern. Even if ap-

plique is not your “go-to” style, you can get ideas

    Interlacing Borders: More

    Than 100 Inticate Designs

    Made Easy

    by Donna Hussain

    Martindale Press, 1998

Look Forward to the August Program

Pumpkin Patch co-chairs, Patty Nelson and Carla Bowman, have de-

cided to sell the Little People and their sleeping bags at this year’s

Patch, October 2-3. These cute, tactile play people will market well to

grandparents, families, and church daycares. Patty and Carla are ask-

ing guild members to make as many as they feel comfortable doing

with fun, colorful fabric scraps. If we all made five sets, we would

have a fantastic collection of Littles! Sleeping bags can be made for 2-

5 little people. Plan to sew and stuff and bring your Littles to the Sep-

tember guild meeting, at which time the co-chairs will be signing up

workers for the Patch. The patterns for the people and sleeping bags

will be in the June Newsletter Supplement.

    Happy Summer Quilting,

    Gardening, and Bird Watching!

This cute quilt Is aptly named Bird Crossing.

    Block of the Month

The editor apologizes for the confusion over colors in the May block...an example of miscommunication. Thanks to

Lynn Colquhoun, we are set for the rest of the year now, so keep making your blocks! Lynn will be continuing the

drawing for each month when KPQG is able to meet. She has also stitched up a sample of this 2-color block for you to

check out on the next page. As always, if you prefer to go to the website, The Anvil pattern can be found at:

    http://www.quilterscache.com/T/TheAnvilBlock.html.

    June BOM: The Anvil

Quilts From the Heart Update Loretta Tuma, Mary Corah, and Vickie Greenwood have collected 70 completed quilts, and some members have several more completed. Thank you to Sharon Pollman and Phyllis Norton who have pieced over two dozen tops! If you have a completed quilt, you may keep it until we meet or contact Vickie for a social distanc-ing pick up or to deliver a full kit to be stitched. If you would prefer to quilt rather than piece, please let Vickie know and she will supply you with the pieced top, batting, and backing. (See our directory for her contact info.) Thanks also to Susie Weir and Karen Spaeth, QFTH committee members.

    Opportunity Quilt

This beautiful quilt was created with the intent of serving as an sig-

nificant part of our guild’s revenue. Due to COVID, the opportunities

to display the quilt and offer chances for winning it have not tran-

spired. In addition, members who were planning to make the next

opportunity quilt have not been able to meet. Consequently, the

Guild Board voted at their May meeting to retain this lovely work of

art for another year. Hold on to your tickets, though. There will be a

drawing to win some other treasure at the December meeting!

T-Shirt Quilts The t-shirt teams have completed the orders for

five quilts. Congratualtions, Ladies! Carol Pacey’s

goal was to finish ten quilts, anticipating more re-

quests for quilts for graduates. Alas, we know why

those plans went awry. The good news is that the

quilts that were completed will bring joy to those

families and serve as positive advertising as we look

    to the future!

Watch for the newsletter supplement that will be emailed

with this newsletter. This will include the July BOM, Little

People Patterns, and a copy of the Twenty-Twenty Challenge

that would be easy to print. The supplement will be mailed

to members who do not have email.

    Guild Members:

    What are you making?

We would all love to see some of the

creations that you have been working

    on during quarantine!

Feel free to send project photos to:

    [email protected].
