OVERVIEW

The Trinidad and Tobago e-Business Roundtable (e-Business

Roundtable) is a private sector led partnership with government,

consisting of high-level business executives, technology experts and

academics, that aims to map out a strategy for Trinidad and

Tobago’s economic growth and success by focusing on leadership,

opportunity recognition, innovation and revenue generation through

the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT’s) in

business.

OBJECTIVES

1. To influence Government’s ICT policy and facilitate the

development of Trinidad and Tobago's Internet economy.

2. To produce an annual report and recommendations on the issues

that Government needs to address to keep fastforward relevant,

and to fulfill future planning goals.

3. To act as a pool of private sector expertise available to assist in the

development of existing enterprises as well as the identification

and promotion of new domestic, regional and international

business opportunities

Overview (Cont’d)4. To work with the various Industry Associations to explore the

potential for ICT as a sector-level catalyst for the enhancement of

foundation industries such as, Financial services, Energy, Services

(including tourism), Culture/Entertainment, Fisheries Management

and Agriculture.

5. To inspire Trinidad and Tobago business and citizens to grasp the

opportunities presented by network technologies, including the

Internet.

6. To identify new and emerging human capital development

requirements to support Trinidad and Tobago’s increased levels of

ICT-driven innovation.

7. To identify areas in which business houses need support to

embrace technology for innovation and greater productivity.

Broadband At present the Scope of Work (SOW) has been produced and it will be sent out for tender.

The expected deliverables of the Broadband initiative are:

• Readiness Assessment Report – T&T Internet Exchange

• Readiness Assessment Report – Domestic hosting industry

• Design and Delivery of Workshops – T&T Internet Exchange and domestic hosting industry

• Domestic hosting market development and incentive report

• National Hosting Infrastructure Design Standards Report

• GoRTT Data Centres Requirements Analysis and Stakeholder Consultation

• Identification of ranked possible locations for GoRTT Data Centres with detailed site evaluations and recommendations

Symposium The Minister is in amenable to the idea of holding the symposium.The Roundtable is to proceed with the planning of the event, which will include; Determining the financial resource allocation; Determining the stakeholders/partners of the initiative and the operational functions that they will perform.

4. Jump start e-Marketplace Making recommendations and suggestions on what the private sector needs are in order for businesses to take advantage of the service. (e.g fiscal incentives).
