Fluortek specializes in custom PE, FEP, and PTFE tubing for packaging.

Applications include the protection of catheter balloons and other

catheter components.

Processing Aids

Central Venous Catheters (CVCs)

Ideal for PICC (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter) lines,

tunneled catheters, and implanted ports, Fluortek’s CVC options

include multi-lumen tubing, polyurethane tubing, radius tipping,

and precision printing for depth guides.

Split-Sheath Introducers/Dilators

Used in a variety of procedures, split-sheath introducers/dilators

can benefi t from radiopaque fi lled or striped PTFE, tear-away PTFE

sheaths, dip-etching to ease hub attachment, PE precision extrusion,

taper and radius tipping, and PE packaging tubes.

Peripheral Vascular Catheters (PVCs)

PVCs include precision extrusions (polyurethane, FEP, or PTFE)

incorporating radiopaque striping and radius tipping.

Guiding Catheters

Fluortek’s guiding catheter options include braid/coil-reinforced

tubing for kink resistance, torque transfer, and column strength.

Etched fl uoropolymer liners ease bondability to outer jacket, Pebax

and PUR outer jackets, atraumatic radius radiopaque tips, curve

Urinary Catheters

Reinforced Introducers/Dilators

Micro-Introducers/Dilators

Fluortek specializes in the following for noninvasive micro-introducers/

dilators: tear-away/splittable PTFE sheaths, radiopaque fi lled PTFE,

dip-etching to ease hub attachment (fl uoropolymers), PE precision

extrusion (HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, MDPE), taper and radius tipping, and

PE packaging tubes.

Balloon Catheters

Part of minimally invasive surgical systems, balloon catheters may

include multi-lumen extrusions, etched liners (fl uoropolymers),

polyurethane/Pebax jackets, marker band integration, heatshrink for butt

welding of tips and/or ease of catheter layup assembly, PE heatshrink

for welding of balloon to catheter, and balloon protector tubes.

Computer-Aided Surgery Systems

Also referred to as melt fl uoropolymers as they are

processed with traditional extrusion equipment,

Fluortek fl uoropolymer tubing is created through a

proprietary compounding/blending process that

provides custom color and radiopaque fi llers while

maintaining strict process control.

From pellet to product, Fluortek processes an array

of fl uoropolymer materials including FEP, PFA, PCTFE,

PIC: One repeat of braid measured along the braid axis is called a pick. The pick count (PIC) is

the number of braid repeats or crosses per unit measure, typically over one inch. A higher PIC

count will increase longitudinal stiffness, however it will reduce the overall fl exibility of the part.

Fluoropolymer Etching

If you need to bond a polymer layer or attach a fi tting to a

fl uoropolymer tube, Fluortek offers fl uoropolymer etching,

a chemical treatment that alters the tubing’s surface chemistry

to enable bonding.
