In line with its commitment to continuous investment in machinery, staff and factory facilities, corrugated packaging specialist Durham Box has created a brand new design suite within its 70,000 sq ft premises to help service its customers. Operating from this new dedicated area, the 5-strong design team utilises the latest KASEMAKE structural packaging design software from AG/CAD Limited to develop innovative and bespoke packaging solutions for clients large and small. This

software allows Durham Box to respond quickly to demanding design briefs and standard box enquiries alike.

Physical samples are created at high speed on a newly installed, state -of-the-art DYSS X5-1630C digital cutting/creasing machine with a large cutting size of 1600x3000mm. Durham Box had identified a requirement for a fast machine able to deliver high quality samples and extra capacity, with the further potential for short run, die-less production. The decision to purchase the new superfast DYSS X5 from specialist CAD/CAM supplier AG/CAD Limited was straightforward. Durham Box the capability to offer a one-stop shop to its large and varied customer base. By combining artwork files with the corresponding structural files, the studio team use the KASEMAKE software to generate interactive PDF 3D mock-ups fully rendered with graphics to give life-like representations of final printed products. This capability has been well-received by clients, helping Durham Box add value and win new business. The 3D presentations also save time and potentially multiple visits to customer sites in order to clarify and finalise requirements, benefitting in impressive response and turnaround times.
