HOW MY FAMILY CAME TO AMERICA My Dad’s lineage has been traced back

from before 1638 when my ancestors first came to America from the town of Great Ellingham, in Norfolk, England.

My Mom’s ancestry hasn’t been formerly traced back, but I am an 8th generation Californian on my mom’s side. That means that I am the eighth generation to be born in California.

Page 12: Due March 7, 2011 Noelle Payne. My mom loves Christmas, so she named me Noelle Noelle means Christmas in French I was born at Scripps Memorial.

MY FAMILY’S HEALTH HISTORY On my Dad’s Mom’s side, the main

problem is high blood pressure. My Dad’s Dad was always very healthy until the last six months of his life, when he developed cancer.

On my Mom’s Mom’s side, a big problem was type 2 diabetes. My great-grandparents all smoked and had health complications from that, and my grandfather has really bad arthritis, especially in his fingers and knees.

I could have inherited any of these problems, I just won’t know until I’m older.

HEALTH TRIANGLE

Physical Mental

SocialI usually make and keep my friends, I am a good listener, I am good at helping others, and I am good at “lightening the mood” in a room.

I am good at puzzles, I am good at logic reasoning, I am good at “reading between the lines”, and I am good at putting colors together that look good together.

My health triangle is isosceles because I have committed myself to sports and school more than being social. There are many different social events that I have had to turn down in the past due to my sports. An ideal health triangle would have all equal parts. One side being slightly smaller or slightly bigger can affect all parts of your life. It can mean you either have too much of something or too little of something which is not healthy.

I eat nutritious foods, I get plenty of sleep, I do lots of sports, and I maintain an ideal weight.

PERSONAL SONG LYRICS

You look aroundIt's staring back at youAnother wave of doubtWill it pull you under

You wonder

What if I'm overtakenWhat if I never make itWhat if no one's there?

Will you hear my prayer?

When you take that first stepInto the unknown

You know that he won't let you go

So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose?

Your insecurities try to hold to you

You know you're made for moreSo don't be afraid to move

Your faith is allIt takes and you can

Walk on the water too

So get outAnd let

Your fear fall to the ground No time to waste

Don't waitDon't you turn around and miss

outEverything you were made for

I know you're not sureSo you play it safe

Try to run away

If you take that first stepInto the unknown

He won't let you go

So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose?

Your insecurities try to hold to you

You know you're made for moreSo don't be afraid to move

Your faith is allIt takes and you can

Walk on the water too

(step out)

Even when a storm hits(step out)

Even when you're broken(step out)

Even when your heart is telling you telling you to give up

(step out)When your hope is stolen

(step out)You can't see where you're going

You don't have to be afraid

So what are you waiting,What are you waiting for?

So what are you waiting for? What do you have to lose?

Your insecurities try to hold to you

You know you're made for moreSo don't be afraid to move

Your faith is allIt takes and you can

Walk on the water... Walk on the water too

IMPORTANT PERSON A person that has made a difference in

my life is my mom. She is always there for me, and she always encourages me to succeed using my individual God-given talents. She is the rock in my life. She’s always taken care of me and she always knows what to say to make everything better. My mom’s an amazing person, and I couldn’t have asked for a better person in my life.

WRITE A LETTERDear Mom, You have helped me

through so many things in life. When I’m feeling sad, I come to you and you tell me that it will be okay, that everything’s going to be alright. You make me smile when I’m angry, and you love me for who I am. You don’t try to change me because I’m just like you. I love you so much, and I’m so thankful you are my mom.

Love Noelle

Page 50: Due March 7, 2011 Noelle Payne. My mom loves Christmas, so she named me Noelle Noelle means Christmas in French I was born at Scripps Memorial.

IN THREE YEARS... I see myself graduating high school and

going to the four-year college of my choice to study what ever I had decided I wanted to study.

I see myself having a job to earn money so I could help pay for college.

I see myself sharing a dorm at college.

Page 51: Due March 7, 2011 Noelle Payne. My mom loves Christmas, so she named me Noelle Noelle means Christmas in French I was born at Scripps Memorial.

IN FIVE YEARS... I see myself doing well in college, on my

way to earning the degree of my choice. I see myself having a full-time job to

earn money so I could pay for food and other things.

I see myself either sharing a dorm at college, or renting an apartment near the campus.

Page 52: Due March 7, 2011 Noelle Payne. My mom loves Christmas, so she named me Noelle Noelle means Christmas in French I was born at Scripps Memorial.

IN TEN YEARS... I see myself graduating college and

going into the workforce of America. I see myself having a full-time job to be

able to support myself. I see myself renting an apartment near

my job, maybe having a boyfriend and getting married.

Page 53: Due March 7, 2011 Noelle Payne. My mom loves Christmas, so she named me Noelle Noelle means Christmas in French I was born at Scripps Memorial.

ONE ACCOMPLISHMENT I could accomplish just one thing, it

would be to raise my children so that they were good upstanding citizens, had good character, and always trusted in God and His plan for their life.

MEDIA AWARENESS

Page 55: Due March 7, 2011 Noelle Payne. My mom loves Christmas, so she named me Noelle Noelle means Christmas in French I was born at Scripps Memorial.

MEDIA INFLUENCE The media doesn’t influence my choices

of clothing, I wear jeans and a jacket almost everyday. It doesn’t influence my choices of activities, who swims 20 hours a week because someone tells them to...you do it because you love it. And the media doesn’t influence my choices of music either, I listen almost exclusively to Christian music. I don’t think the media affects me, but I do have to admit, some of the articles in the magazines are hilarious.
